If at first one doesn’t succeed, having a marketable last name in boxing usually means a fighter will get to try and try again until things go their way. Over the weekend in Japan, another cliché could be borrowed as Daiki Kameda found the third time to be the charm. Garnering his third try at a major Flyweight belt, and second straight try at the WBA belt, Kameda came up a winner. While not as highly regarded as his brother, lineal World Flyweight Champion Koki Kameda, families rarely share honors this way making for one of the weekend’s fun stories (even if reports indicate it was a terrible fight).

Narvaez has 16 title defenses... He broke Monzon record... And, they way he is going to have at least 20 title defenses before he retires... Is a damn shame...

He's probably the most talented of the flyweights, but he's largely wasted his career, often defending against inferior opponents in Argentina and Europe. He was dominating against Whitfield last year, but the fight would have gotten a lot more attention in the U.S. He dominated Carlos Tamara, who just won Viloria's junior flyweight title, but it was in Argentina and almost nobody noticed. The Japanese champions won't fight him because the JBC doesn't recognize his WBO title. So he's likely to retire without taking on a big name unless Calderon moves up and challenges him. Both are near the end of their career and ancient for flyweights, so it would probably be a good match
