Sorry Toney fans, but you are wrong and the boxing commission has spoken.
Anabolic steroids increase power and stamina, two great factors in any fight. Toney cheated, Ruiz got his belt back, get over it.Comment

Yes it was proven and he was suspended and fined. He had two comeback fights against Vanderpool and Marshall then his back started to bother him and he had a thyroid problem.Originally posted by drez24Also, I've heard both ways... was the Vargas steroid thing ever proven? HBO was saying he took all of that time off because of his back injury. He did look absolutely jacked for the dlh fight though.Comment

Guess it wasn't too long ago since he tested positive.Originally posted by Warden11Another thing that is tough with this topic is when did Toney actually take them?? He may have been off it for weeks or months meaning no extra energy boast.
Moral of the story? If you juice, tell the commission and postpone the fight. Otherwise if you get caught, man up and admit it and take the punishment.Comment

They can detect it sometimes up to 6 months later. Thats why I dont understand why these guys bother. Anyway your right it probably wasn't too long ago it would just be nice to know.Comment

if the fight would have been a war were there was a lot of power hits, then i could see how toney had the clear advantage. But the fact that most of toney's punches were counters off Ruiz's poorly timed throws clearly means that Ruiz was out boxed by Toney. Steroids dident have anything to do with Ruiz tripping over his goofy self. Steroids did not have anything to do with Ruiz throwing bad, unbalanced punches and getting countered. Ruiz lost the fight because Toney is a better boxer, not because he used steroids.Comment
