The Unofficial Difference Between SPECIAL and VERY GOOD

lately there have been a lot of threads labeling fighters....

i get kind of frustrated when i see fighters labeled incorrectly...

i will attempt to show the major difference between

"special fighters" and "very good fighters"

SPECIAL= a physical enigma, able to do perform physical acts that can not be taught, it has to come from inside (natural), at times, it looks as if they
are performing in the matrix as an agent or neo. A special fighter should not lose in his PRIME (unless matched against your absolute agent smith (someone like you) or match - someone who is good but not special, but they have your # for whatever reason)

VERY GOOD (or Above Average) = very good fighter (technically sound) and possess either one or two physical attributes that you developed or improved on throughout your career, it can be speed or power...you can excel and be excellent in either or both, yet you still miss that "IT" factor, that makes you go WOW the entire time you watch them. You are definitely very good or above average, yet you are not an enigma entirely. Just because you posses one punch knock out power doesn't make you an enigma (special.)

A special fighter's downfall is their natural ability that causes them to break away from the technical side of the game, relying heavily on their natural ability (ie:using Speed to avoid punches rather than blocking.) They usually peek early and reach the top quick, but when they get old...it's a hard fall from grace...sadly they usually have 1 level (enigma level) so once they lose their special abilities, they look rather ordinary....

Very Good fighter's tend to be smarter because they learned the techniques and always used them because they could not rely on a supreme physical attribute that could bail them out when all else failed. They will more than likely look that way throughout their career, very good...never extraordinary...never that DAMN did you just see that moment....

However there are some fighters i can not classify because when i watch them, i don't see anything mind blowingly special (physically) but their body of work speaks for itself, so i will call them HYBRIDS....since they encompass both but not both entirely. HYBRIDS are special because they encompass both sides (technical ability) and (a supernatural physical ability.) Some Hybrids may possess the power but never use their ability to it's full potential because of their tendency to be safety first, we call those defensive hybrids. Offensive hybrids are the opposite.

also, the special fighter can be defeated by the very good fighter even if the special fighter is in his PRIME, there are no absolutes

ok here are some examples of fighters to fit my theory:

    Very Good Fighter (Above Average)

              What nonsense is this...

Naz is special but MAB is very good?

Hopkins is still a top fighter at the age of 45 and that is not special?

whack thread. a "special fighter" to you is basically someone that utilizes what is called 'unconventional techniques' so Roy, Nasim, etc are all special to you disregarding their actual skill or other important attributes that they may be lacking (such as Chin for Roy and perhaps Heart for Nasim, etc).

Unconventionality does not equal "special-ness". emanuel augustus is unconventional too, is he "special" in your eyes just because he sometimes throws dual-punches (2 hand punches) and jump-punches his opponents, etc?

sounds to me like you just need to learn more about boxing.

fact of the matter is, a special boxer can be someone very physically mundane like bernard hopkins but is simply that good because the 'SPECIAL FACTORS' of his existence aren't the flashy things you see outright and people like you are attracted to. the "Special" factors guys like him have are all inside his brain, they're the mental, intelligence factors not the "oh wow I can knock someone out with one hand behind my back" circus stuff of Roy Jones. Look at their two careers Roy Jones has now been knocked out cold 3 times or more and hopkins has arguably never even lost let alone ever been legitimately down or knocked out, now you tell me who's special?

you just sound like a kid attracted to the flashiness of unconventional fighters but that in no way has any correlation to being special. A guy like Barrera is in many ways arguably far more special than Nasim, etc.

I think UFC might be more up your alley kid.
