I believe that many were thrown by Demarco's unwillingness to go for broke and leave it all in the ring. Its one thing to take punishment as you do battle - but if you're just taking punishment because you're fearful of a more severe beating ...... then that's not what its all about. And its not normally what a champion would do.

Demarco experienced the power Valero has and went into a shell - giving Valero a sure thing win. At that stage of the fight, he just was absorbing the punishment Valero was dishing out without even offering a deterrent.

Not one of his better outings at all.

the odd thing was he took clean punches early which didnt seem to phase him yet he still didnt attack and even at the end did not go for broke.

good post I thought this as well. If you can't win with your plan A, that' ok...where was your plan B? Unless standing there and taking punches was it. I am not a boxer so I can't judge the guy for anything but he did not really seem to want to be there after a while.
