May 2nd, 2010~ By this time, what looks more impressive?

Suppose it's May 2nd, 2010 and both the biggest fighters in the sport right now have continued their winning streaks. It looks as if we might actually see the big fight everyone wants to see. So now I ask you, if you take both fighters' last four fights, what looks more impressive?

Choose one fight for each pairing...

Example: If you pick Pacquiao's win over Clottey, then don't pick Mosley.

    They're compared in the following forms: ODLH/ODLH, Hatton/Hatton, JMM/Cotto, Mosley/Clottey.
    99
Mayweather over Oscar de la Hoya at 154 (SD)
    11.11%
    11
Pacquiao over Oscar at 147 (TKO8)
    7.07%
    7
Mayweather over undefeated Hatton at 147 (TKO10)
    4.04%
    4
Pacquiao over Hatton at 140 (TKO2)
    18.18%
    18
Mayweather over Juan Manuel Márquez at 143 (UD12)
    2.02%
    2
Pacquiao over Cotto at 145 (TKO12)
    24.24%
    24
Mayweather over Mosley at 147 (UD)
    24.24%
    24
    Pacquiao over Clottey (UD)
    4.04%
    4
Mayweather and Pacquiao are relatively even in their last four fights...
    5.05%

    The way I look at it is;

Mayweather beating DLH at 154 was more impressive - Even though Manny managed to beat DLH in quicker fashion, Mayweather was against the better DLH out of the 2 fights, DLH didn't look too comfortable at 147 IMO.

Pacquiao's win over Hatton was more impressive - Even though some people believe that Hatton might have been a bit spent after Mayweather I think that Pacquiao's was more impressive, Hatton may not have been unbeaten anymore but he was still undefeated at LWW, which was a division which he had dominated for years. Pacquiao beat Hatton in quicker fashion and at his weight class.

Pacquiao's win over Cotto was more impressive - Both guys outclassed there opponents and put on a great performance, but Pacquiao beat a more legitimate fighter, JMM in all fairness hadn't fought at WW before and Cotto had been fighting at WW for many years, and Pacquiao looked great while beating him just like Floyd did against JMM, so Manny's win was more impressive cause it was against a more solid opponent.

If Mayweather decisions Mosley then it would be more impressive - Same thing as the Cotto point I made really except the other way around, Mosley is a much more legit and solid opponent, so if he beats him then it would be more impressive than Pacquiao beating Clottey because of the opponent he beat.

Overall, I think Floyd and Manny are pretty much even in there last fights... thats JMO though I guess.

      Nice analysis Spacey1991,

Both Mayweather & Pacman are on a collision course and the sooner the fans realize that, the better - You don't have to diminish either man's accomplishments in order to elevate the other. They are two of the very best in the boxing world and it is inevitable that they meet to settle the top spot. It won't be solved by the fans, the writers, or the announcers ...... It will be settled by Mayweather & Pacman - as it should be.

The poll reads TKO 2 over Hatton. It should be KO 2 - Ricky was knocked out cold.

All of Pacquiao's wins are more impressive.

        - Mayweather ran and managed a close SD over DLH, while Pacquiao destroyed him.

        - Mayweather took Hatton out late, Pacquiao knocked him down twice in the 1st and out in the second! And Manny didn't need Joe Cortez to prevent Ricky from fighting on the inside.

        - Mayweather DUCKED Cotto, and chose a smaller, older opponent in JMM, who fought at featherweight up until his 30s. Manny systematically destroyed Cotto.

Gotta be Mosley. Mosley the best "opponent" of everyone on that list. Beating him won't be easy. Either way it will just make the May-Pac fight EVEN bigger. I can't wait!

I voted for Mayweather's win over De La Hoya, Mayweather's win over Hatton, Pacquiao's win over Cotto and Mayweather's potential win over Mosley.

And also the "Mayweather and Pacquiao are relatively even in their last four fights..." option.

The best win of the bunch is a toss-up between Pacquiao-Cotto and Mayweather-Mosley for me. At this point in time I'd say Pac's win was/will be more impressive but we'll see how sharp Mosley looks and if Mayweather beats him, how he beats him.

Oscar win - clearly fraud jr.
              Hatton win - pac

as for the other fights, Pac took on cotto who beat mosley & now a top rated welter in clottey.

The fact that pac was fighting at 130 & 135 as recent as 2008, his wins over hattton, oscar, cotto, & potentially against clottey all in spectacular fashion clearly clearly TRUMPS fraud jr.'s wins vs 36 year old career featherweight at welterweight marquez & 38 going on 39 with 1 year & 6 months of inactivity mosley.

              clear edge to pac.

              clear.

Whats with all the extra crap when discussing Floyds wins? Floyd beat Hatton and Oscar before Pac did. Cotto was damaged goods. Clottey is average. Mosley is the best WW.

Well Pac's best win will still be over Cotto by May 2nd IMO...

I think Cotto may have lost something after the Margarito loss(debatable)

I think its either Floyd beating Shane or Pac beating Cotto...

I'll give it to Pac since I think he would beat Cotto even if it was the 2006 version who just beat Shane...

                    Floyd's Oscar win
                    Pacquiao's Hatton win
                    Pacquiao's Cotto win
Depends on how they look and how they win, but most likely a Mosley win.
