Like many I wanted this fight at the lower weights for years.
Ideally, it should have happened in 2006.
Pac improved so much since then and Valero was put on the shelf and not getting fights.
I don't want to get into specifics too much because Pac would never fight Valero (it's not financially worth it and I understand that) but I always felt whoever got there first would win and it would be early early in the fight.
Back then they were two heavy handed unorthodox fighters who loved to trade. With two southpaws it's punches coming at strange angles and with plenty of power so it wouldn't last long.
Pac refined his game so much, but Valero didn't really have to because he had lesser competition and trouble getting sanctioned.
It's one of those fights that were woulda, coulda, shoulda, but will never happen but I give Valero a puncher's chance in it back then for sure.
And all the rumors of Valero handling Pac in sparring and Pac handling Valero in sparring are interesting but amount to nada.
I feel like we should just put this in the realm of make-believe fights.Comment

Well power served George Foreman pretty well overall wouldn't you say.
I mean he went like 40 and 0 not even using a ton of skill before he met one of the greatest fighters ever
When he got older he got much smarter but power and power alone bails out a lot of guys a lot of the time.Comment

Well, George was bigger than most HWs at the time.Well power served George Foreman pretty well overall wouldn't you say.

When he got older he got much smarter but power and power alone bails out a lot of guys a lot of the time.
It was a huge factor is his success, Valero has gotten this far but now is stepping up against better guys and I think we are speaking too soon when comparing him to a proven great fighter like Pac.Comment

Sure I will give you that.
Pac has proved himself. I often feel the story of Pac can be told in 2 of his fights with Erik Morales.
The before and after of Pac.
Before the slugger with one hand, after the consummate adapting pro.
There's no story yet of Valero but the potential is there.Comment
