Going by the comments on this thread, its little wonder that most boxing fans are called idiots. They simply do not have a CLUE how promotional businesses work.
Amir Khan is an asset. He is a PPV attraction in the UK, he is now a world champion. He is a ****** of Pakistani descent and has a MASSIVE UK following. He already earns around $1m per fight (Infact, I think he earned £1.2 against Salita, which is around $2m). Think what his promotional team earns (it was rumoured that Warren earned at least £6,000,000 out of Khan in 4 years; that is over $10,000,000 USD). Now Khan is bigger than ever, has a larger following and is now more known than ever.
It is in Golden Boy's INTERESTS to make as much money from Khan (and he could earn them many millions) so they have to protect him. Why is Mayweather so carefully managed by GBP when Oscar hates the guy? Simple.
Why don't we build the Maidana fight up into something massive instead of demanding it now like we deserve it? Most idio....I mean 'fans' don't deserve the match because they are too dumb to understand what is happening and how and WHY things happen.
Maidana-Khan WILL happen unless Maidana is exposed for the crude slugger he is (like Prescott has been recently).
Khan is here to stay. Like it or lump it.

If HBO has so less trust in him why they want to make him a big star... nothing against Maidana... dude is a one dimensional slugger... if he can't beat him... he won't get far anyways...
I can understand the critism that Khan is facing... he is champion... ppl simply expect you to step up then... I think he could use probably a year more of solid opponents before steppin' up... but he is a champ now...
Marquez though is no easy pickings here... I give Khan the edge in the fight but Marquez against every opponent made the fight competive... we still don't know what would have happened if Barrera would have gone with him in the deeper rounds... Khan looked gassed to a degree against Kotelnik... so if he can't get Marquez outta there... I think the late rounds will be interesting

Only an idiot wouldn't understand that.
What other sport allows its top athletes to be protected in that way? That's a large part of the reason why boxing is no longer a mainstream sport, and that has damaged boxing as a business.
