    Shane And Floyd Give Statements

    Statements
"This one is definitely for the fans as I wasn't going to waste anyone's time with a meaningless tune-up bout and asked to fight Shane immediately. I have said ever since I came back to the sport that I only wanted to fight the best. I think Shane is one of the best, but come May 1, he still won't be great enough to beat me."

    -- Floyd Mayweather Jr

"I have always wanted to fight Floyd and now it is finally coming true. I am already in great shape and ready to show everyone on May 1 that I am stronger, faster and better than he is. I will have no problem beating him."

    -- Shane Mosley.

Now, who is being more truthful here. it's all over youtube
, where Floyd gave his "reasons" why he would never face Shane. Now, he says he asked for Mosely right away? Not the way ANYONE has heard it until today. sounds good in copy though.

Mosely sounds like the most confident man I have heard in boxing. this reminds me of his mindset in the Margarito build up. After the Jin debacle, it's like he won't take crap from anybody anymore. and his current trainer seems to be a perfect fit.

the only thing that needs to happen now is to make sure that the "random testing" means both guys are tested randomly on the same day. None of this Floyd getting tested two weeks before and then Shane getting tested on the day of the fight crap.

ESPN, everyone is good to go.

he did kind of ask for shane immediately...he wants to fight the best...but he still wants the money fights...all in all...i really think that floyd came back to fight pacquaio...don't know what he wanted to do after that...but it was all planned to me...i don't think shane wanted to fight...or wasn't worried about floyd until oscar wanted to fight him...

I agree, He came back to fight the winner of Miguel Cotto Vs Manny Pacquiao because he knew the amount of money that would be at stake and how much he could really earn but as a fighter, I'm sure he is also doing it to seal his legacy, he wants to fight the top guys and prove himself for the remaining doubters.

Mayweather Vs Pacquiao will be huge (assuming both win their next fight). I do slightly favor Pacquiao in it tho. He has everything going for him, complete package.
        (i'm not biased)

Can anyone clear the rematch clause situation? Some say they have it some say they don't. I think the only reason for this is: 1 - If Shane pulls the upset, Mayweather will have to avenge it. 2 - If Pacquiao gets beat by Clottey somehow and the Mosley fight was pretty close, they(May-Shane) can have a rematch for a last payday since Pacquiao is out of the picture.

          That's my take on it.

i think it was set up for the specific reason so that floyd couldn't lose his superfight to shane...

              More info.

At Mayweather's insistence, both fighters have agreed to undergo Olympic-style drug testing for the fight.

"Floyd has been trying to make this fight for the last 10 years, so he is extremely excited about the opportunity to face Shane," said Leonard Ellerbe, a Mayweather adviser. "He can't wait to extend his undefeated record and perform at the highest level. More importantly, he is also happy to set the precedent for random blood testing in order to ensure fair and safe contests for all fighters."

Mosley was linked to the BALCO scandal, admitting during grand jury testimony, which was later released, that he had used designer steroids "the clear" and "the cream" and injected himself with EPO, a blood oxygen enhancer, during the lead-up to his 2003 rematch with Oscar De La Hoya. Mosley said he took the steroids unknowingly.

"When two champions of this caliber meet in the ring, you can expect nothing but excellence and that is what we are going to see on May 1," Schaefer said. "Shane Mosley is one of the greatest fighters of this era and I commend him for not only agreeing to the fight against Mayweather, but also agreeing to participate in a testing process that can only help the integrity of the sport."

I actually wouldn't mind to see Mayweather beat Mosley twice. Is the rematch clause only for one fighter or whoever losses can pull the trigger on the clause?

from an un-biased persective, if floyd gets past shane and then fights pac, the three fights he will have had after retirement will look pretty good on paper. that is to say, three guys that were among many top 5 pound for pound list for the past several years. granted, one of them was fighting where he shouldn't have been, but still.

i'm pretty excited for this fight. for some reason i can only see it going one of two ways - floyd comfortably UD's shane, or shane does to floyd what he did to margo. no inbetween.

This is gonna be an exciting fight, and the build up will only build up, by march this fight is gonna be everywhere and with the 24/7 its only going to further it. I think will be seeing a lot of Shane Mosley everywhere and Floyd too up to his usually antics, ESPN is gonna run this **** crazy.. This fight IMHO has the chance to sale 2 mil ppv buys, if they play there cards right, a lil scuffling, name calling dat type of ****... This fight is gonna be bananas maybe not the action of Clottey and Pacq but way more build up- anticipation and steam!
