If that's how you feel then I respect your opinion, even though it differ from my own. I tend to give people props when they do a good job, not just go above and beyond what they are expected. For someone doing what they're supposed to be doing in the first place,
its not high on my list of giving credit for that.
You're supposed to be doing that.
The difference between that and telling someone they're doing a good job is this,
that person could just be doing their job in a regular manner by doing the bare minimum. You save the "good job", for people who go above and beyond what is expected of them.
Floyd is simply doing what he should have been doing in the first place.
Welterweight for 5 years, fighting legit welterweights who pose a threat.
Its not a knock, its just the way his career has panned out.
I'm not going to give props for fighting someone he should be, especially when hes been a part of the welterweight landscape for as long as he has.
I'm glad hes taken this fight. I've never been against, as a matter of fact, I've been clamoring for these types of matchups since hes been in the division.
I save my props for someone like Vanes M. who is rumored to be taking on Carlos Quintana next. That is quite a step up for a kid like him.
Floyd finally fighting Shane isn't enough of a reason to give him extra credit. He should have been making these types of fights a long time ago. He'll get the extra credit when he faces legit threat after legit threat.
There are thousands fighters doing just doing what they are supposed to be doing, and get props for doing so. What Mayweather has done in the past is history and I won't discredit his recent actions because of it.
As lame as it may sound, he's in the entertainment business and the only thing he's "supposed" to do is look out for his best interest, which is himself. He could have easily fought a Collazo type of fighter, with the excuse that he is waiting for the outcome of Pac/Clottey, and most would have bought it.Comment
