I understand why they would go with Miranda I have no real problem with it if those are the two options even if I think Brinkley is more deserving. Brinkley will most liekly get to fight Bute anyways since he is close to getting mandatory status and since he can draw in Reno it should be within his ability to get there. That status is part of the reason i would rather Bute just deal with brinkley so that fight doesn't pop up down teh road when better options are actually available.

In Montreal I don't think either guy matters much as far as sales go, I think Bute draws roughly the same with either.

Look at it this way atleast they didn't dig up the corpse of Jeff Lacy~.

maybe they can put brinkley on the undercard and hopefully he shines, so when bute knocks out miranda in 6 brinkley can have his shot.

The reality of it is how could HBO possibly build up Brinkley to be a threat to Bute. Jesse doesn't have one tool that would give him the slightest chance of getting past this guy. Sure, it is a nice story that he was able to get on a winning streak and beat the bully in his home town as an underdog. blah blah blah .... That is not going to put asses in the seats. It is a total mismatch and no better than an ESPN show.

Now before you guys jump all over me and say, yea, but what has Edison done lately. I hear ya. My best answer is he gave Ward a much better fight than Kessler did. He has some decent wins on his resume (Green and Eastman) and he is very well known in Europe, especially after the controversy over his first fight with Abraham. But most of all Miranda is one right hand away from a sick knock out highlight and that is what people want to see.

Another big question mark is now that Joe Goossen has been training him for close to a year, what new tricks may we see. Joe to me is an amazing trainer and if anyone can make Miranda into a champ and tweak him to be his best, it is Joe Goossen.

You also have the comparison factor. How will Bute look against Miranda compared to Ward, Abraham and Pavlik. All fights that Bute could have in the near future....

Sorry guys. It is hard to make a better case for Brinkley. But dont feels bad. If Bute does get by Miranda, he will get his shot.

I called this right after the Bute-Andrade 2 fight. Though I was hoping Miranda would have a belt. It's too bad he was feeling ill and couldn't fight Sylvester. Unifiying the belts would've made this fight a blockbuster.

I still think Miranda has some in the tank, but jumping in with Bute after not having the chance to see what he could do against Sylvester spells bad news. I like Bute by UD, but I know Miranda can lose his focus and I wouldn't be surprised if this ends in a KO.

Not sure I heard Bute taking HBO and co. to Romania was in the cards for his next fight. AFAIK, his next fight is at the Bell Centre - his usual home away from home (save for the Andrade rematch).

As far as this fight - sorry, but it's basura. The only thing HBO has done with Bute and Dawson so far is flash their ability to overspend. Those two fighters remain proof positive - if HBO was stuck with Showtime's budget, there wouldn't be a boxing program to talk about on HBO.
