Like with the Pacquiao-Mayweather drug test fiasco, I don't see how a negative story helps promote the upcoming fight. There's already a perception among fans that Mayweather doesn't want to fight the tough competition. Why even try to perpetuate those thoughts by not signing right away? Why not just sign immediately and say "Hey, I'm not afraid of fighting the best."

his last legit opponent was jose luis castillo at lightweight, he hasn't face anyone good or better in the past 7 years besides de la hoya.

floyd really has no other option here. He has to sign for the sake of his reputation. I dont think he can get away public relations wise if he opts to wait for pac after clottey.

actually i think that would be his only other option aside from fighting mosley.

1. if it's not mosley or something of that caliber (martinez? williams? bradley?) and he decides to fight someone like campbell or malignaggi no one will accept the fight.

2. if he just waits for pac-clottey to be over and then fights pac next , all will be forgiven imo. who would want to risk losing out on $40-50 mil. for fighting a superfight? make no mistake shane (old and past prime or whatever) is still a risky fight. hell clottey is a risky fight. if clottey pulls off an upset pac/arum would look so ******.
