and IMHO it was to regain his p4p status. I'm tired of haters talking about how he was forced into fighting Mosley. Here are the facts;

He wanted to fight Pacquiao, the no. 1 p4p fighter, but he was already set to fight Cotto.

He chose to fight Marquez, the no. 2 p4p fighter, who was following Pacquiao up in weight for a well-deserved 3rd fight and who called Mayweather out cause Pacquiao wanted no part of it.

& now he's fight Mosley, the no. 3 p4p fighter, the best ww in the world & a very tough challenge to any fighter regardless of age.

Ok. But will digress on the first point, if he wanted to fight pac on his first fight after retirement, he should have just waited 1 day to conclude the pac-hat bout. Because of that move, I feel he really wanted Marquez first to make Pac look bad.

I do believe people forgot that when Mayweather announced he was coming out of retirement that he also came out with a hitlist. Although the entire list was not made public, some of the names on it were. Pac, Mosley, and victor Ortiz (prior to his last lose) were on the list.
