Anyone else struggling to get that excited feeling about seeing Manny fight Clottey?

Don’t get me wrong, I think Clottey is a good, capable fighter, but as far as marquee fights go, he’s not up there for me. He had a go against Cotto, and whilst putting in a good solid performance, he hardly tripped the light fantastic.

He’s one of those Mugabi type fighters, Ox strong, bullish and tough – but lacks any grace or spark, both needed at elite level prize fighting.

I hope (and fully expect) this fight to go as planned, but i doubt it’ll be pretty or particularly easy on the eye, and whilst i fully expect Manny to win, i think it’ll be seen as a dull fight and won’t do much to enhance anyone’s reputation.

    Thoughts?

I'm not really excited to see it. But I will be come the week of the fight just because I pretty much just love mostly any boxing. So I will rent it. I am actually more intrigued by the May Mosley match.

FOTY candidate written all over it buddy. I think clottey knows what's at stake and will come guns blazing. We dont even have to talk about what pac brings. I can't wait. And if the place solds out. that would be a spectacle for modern boxing in the U.S. 50k watching a boxing fight live.

Its just isn't what you'd call a mega fight. You need to two great name fighters to make a mega bout and Clottey isn't helping the cause. I'm gonna watch the fight no doubt as i watch them all but this fight doesn't get me all the excited. Clottey is a slow moving punching bag for Manny to hit all night long.

The most exciting thing about it is probably that it taking place at Cowboy stadium.

Well I'm not exactly jumping over hills about this fight, but I am genuinely glad that a) Clottey's getting the big payday and second chance he deserves, and b) Pacquiao will be fighting another legit WW at 147 this time.

The fight itself might not come across as spectacular on paper, but in the end it's a superfight featuring 2 world class boxers. Besides the obvious Mayweather-Pacquiao ideal, what else could we possibly ask for?

I'm sure I'll warm up to it in the same way as I did for Pacquiao-Cotto.

And after Floyd run backward pot shotting making shane fight a very boring fight.

Pacquaio vs Shane would be exciting. Pacquaio vs floyd would be exciting, shane vs clottey would be exciting but shane vs floyd would been exciting a few years ago, but shane having a 16month layoff and he also doesnt have his foot speed like he used to and him not having the stamina to fight floyd can be a very boring fight if shane gets old over night since shane doesnt have the stamina and footspeed to chase floyd all night. Because the only way this can be exciting if shane can make floyd fight his fight.

Why would i say shane vs pac be exciting. Because we all know pacquaio will go toe to toe with shane. Pacquaio vs floyd would be exciting because pacquaio got the foot speed, stamina and hand speed along with his south paw stance to catch floyd and force floyd to fight. Shane is one of my favorite fighters but dude already well pass his prime with 16 month layoff, and had signs of gassing out at the end. Im still watching this fight though because Im a sure shane trainer is great enough to make a gameplan to make this a fight. Im just hope shane is not getting old over night.

really what was a more exciting fight. Cotto vs Clottey, Margarito vs clottey or the megafight of Floyd vs Oscar, or Floyd vs hatton(even though we had the funniest knockout in that fight).

Well in my perfect world Manny would have dropped back down to 140 and fought Valero (who would have to move up a weight).

Cant imagine anyone not wanting to see that fight.

But that’s just my head ticking.

Pac vs Clottey fight will **** on Mosley/Floyd. (with all due respect to warrior Shane Mosley). Pac Clottey will be an action fight guaranteed, while Floyd will pot shot his way to a boring UD lost against a 40 yr old past prime rusty ww.
