The Golden Boy Oscar De lay Hoya

I have read past and present threads floating around here about De lay Hoya. It seems people forget where this guy came from and how he made it to the top. In life people only see the end results and the fact that he is on top now in life and has bookoo cash tends to make people forget that he grew up poor and came from a very tough neighborhood. He made smart business decisions and fought top tier fighters his whole career. He always gave us a good show and kept boxing alvie after Tyson and Holyfield faded too black. Right now his GBP promotional company is responsibile for bringing us back to our roots and putting on fights cards more often. Like anything else once you start expanding you dilute the quality of the product.

Oscar understands this fully. He loves the sport of boxing more than most fighters today and her gave back plenty in life and in sport. To **** on him the way most do on this board is immature and just plain haterz. You have to understand even though it is a business these are still people with real lives. Even though Oscar may have lost he lost trying to prove he was the best. You cannot knock someone who is always up for a challenge.

I don't knock him for any of his achievements, he came up strong, but he's still the cheese-meister.

              De La Hoya >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Calzaghe

it is what it is Calzaghe is the most unproved talent but unfortunately we will never know what he could have been because he waited to long to fight anyone worth mentioning. I speak the truth home slizzy. His fans are straight dillusional and often at times have no grip on reality. Oscar's win over Vargas was better than anything Calzaghe ever did. Oscar beating Chavez was equal and if not better than Calzaghes win over Jones. Oscar's win over Whitaker is greater than Calzaghes over Hopkins although they were both close wins. Chavez was 34 when he and Oscar fought the first time. Whitaker was 33. Compare that to a 43 year old Hopkins and a 40 year old Jones. Come on my nukka open your eyes up and take those Calzaghe goggles off. I aint saying the man was not talented but holding a belt in a weight class where there is no one to fight and staying in your own back yard as a local celeberty and being the face of boxing for over 10 years is totally different.

People run their mouths saying Oscar lost big fights yeah well at least he got in there and gave us big fights unlike some other fighters out there. You can **** on Oscar all you want win or lose his resume has some really good names on it.....Lefty

I respect him as a fighter and his achievements but I do not like the man he became.

He is a business man, he doesn't care about the sport as a whole he cares about making money for him and his company. Plain & simple.
