Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. arrived in Las Vegas to take part in a promotional tour made by Top Rank, the tour in which JC Chavez Sr. also participates to promote the May 28th even in LA where both Chavez will be scheduled to fight.
After giving smiles, hellos, and autographs, Chavez jr said:
"When i first told my parents about my wishes to box by parents wouldnt believe me. They felt i wasnt serious and they even opposed it, but when they saw that i have a passion for the sport, they finally accepted my career. I am sure that Boxing is for me, that i have what it takes , and i hope to be world champion one day. I am fighting as a lightweight, but i feel i will end up as a Welterweight because of my height and because i will keep growing.
"I accept that Boxing means sacrifices. I dont go to parties like before and i dont have the free time i used to have. Everyday i get up to run at 6 in the morning and with joy i go to the gym. Now i have to go to bed early, and I have to make sure i keep my discipline continues because i am fighting every 30 or 40 days. There is no vacations, there is no resting period, but i chose this path because i feel i can be world champion. I am young i can dedicated a few years to Boxing and then go on to something else in my life, because boxing is only a certain Era and we have to take advantage of it. Heck.. i dont even have a girlfriend."
"I rememver my first fight: It was in Culiacan, i was very nervous but i came out ahead with a victory on points in a 4 rounder. Little by little i been able to get more comfortable and i have learned to dominate my nerves. There's been fights where i been hit hard, but never knockout type, or have they made me see stars yet. I know how to box, defend myself, I am learning."
