Comments Thread For: Williams-Cintron, Marquez-Khan Race For May 8 Date

HBO is still sorting out their schedule for the next few months. Now that Floyd Mayweather Jr-Shane Mosley is locked in for May 1, the picture should get a lot clearer in the next few weeks. Golden Boy Promotions is looking to stage Amir Khan vs. Juan Manuel Marquez in the month of May. Paul Williams' next fight, possibly against Kermit Cintron at 154, is also tentative for the month of May. [Click Here To Read More]

Williams will be open for the straight right, and Cintron's is a killer when his feet are planted. His fights at 154 have been more of traditional boxing matches, and he hasn't been putting everything behind his punches. I think he could discourage Williams from recklessly coming in with a few hard rights, and therefore cause a competitive fight. I hope this fight is on May 8th. Williams deserves the big time exposure after the Mayweather-Mosley replay more than Khan. Plus it could set up a possible match with the victors of the two fights.

              Cintron hates pressure.

HBO better not screw Williams. Hes been with them for a minute and has worked hard for exposure. Let Khan do the same.

Marquez-Khan should get the date. Williams should look at facing someone besides Cintron. I would think he should go for Felix Sturm, even if he has to go to Germany. Maybe they could negotiate to use 2 from other countries besides Germany and the ref from the US. If not Sturm he should consider Bute at a 168. It could be fought at a catchweigth between 161-168. Dzinduzik and Spinks would also get consideration before Kermit Cintron who would be last on my list of opponents, he really hasn't accomplished much.

Why should Khan get the date?

Williams vs. Cintron is a good 154 Pound match.
