    Sam Peter Back In Action

    "BREAKING NEWS
    Duva Announces Peter vs. Sykes
    by Andre Courtemanche
Duva Boxing, in association with Gary Shaw Promotions and Tres Amigos, LLC, are proud to announce that on July 2, 2005, fast-rising heavyweight contender Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter, 23-0 (20), will put his NABF and USBA championships on the line against NABA champion Taurus “The Bull” Sykes, 23-1-1 (6) at the newly constructed Reno Events Center and televised live on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING. Peter was last seen dismantling normally durable southpaw Gilbert Martinez over three rounds on April 29. Sykes latest appearance was an NABA title-winning unanimous decision over Peter’s Nigerian countryman, Friday Ahunanya. Talk of a Peter vs. Sykes fight began shortly before Peter took on Martinez. A press release issued by people claiming to represent Sykes made some derogatory remarks about Peter and his choice of opponent. Duva quickly responded with a release of his own, challenging Sykes to face his young powerhouse. Sykes publicly accepted the challenge and the wheels were set in motion. The Samuel Peter vs. Taurus Sykes triple title showdown will be scheduled for 12 rounds and will be the sole fight broadcast by Showtime. Tentatively set to appear on the undercard are Oscar Diaz, Mike Marrone, Elena Reid, and Nonito Donaire, with others that will be added. Tickets are priced at $200, $100, $75, $55, and $30. The fight is sponsored by “Reno/Tahoe – America’s Adventure Place." First bout starts at 4:30 p.m.

I've heard alot of good things about this guy, but I haven't seen him fight yet. What kind of fighting style does he employ? Is he the next George Foreman or Mike Tyson.(I looked at his record and most of his wins are by KO)

He hits like Tyson, eats like Foreman, and boxes like nobody cause he doesn't really "box" .

Actually I think the guy has potential but I don't think he has the right handlers around him to develop him properly.

Sam Peter will go about as far as Michael Grant did, no farther. The guy has power, but he slow and pretty unskilled, any decent boxer would pick him to pieces. Chris Byrd James Toney would make him look ridiculous. He has a chance against Golota that would be an interesting fight, we would find out then what Sam Peter is made of in that fight because he would get hit and hit alot, probably so would Golota though.

I still have not seen Brock vs McCline but if Brock can beat McCline he can beat Peter alot easier. McCline is alot more skilled than Peter and comparable in power and strength.

Peter is a monster puncher, doesn't have great balance so somebody who moves well side-to-side will give him fits, but power is the great equalizer in the heavyweight division, I'd put him right behind Vitali and Brewster in terms of punching power....

See you guys at the fights I try to attend every Reno showdown (few and far between these days though)

Peter might become alot better though that he trained by Lou Duva. Lou Duva is really good trainer. He will teach Peter to be a good combination puncher.
