Comments Thread For: Robert Helenius Stops Lamon Brewster: Pulev Wins

At the Jahnsportforum in Neubrandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, heavyweight prospect Robert Helenius (11-0, 7 KOs) became a contender with a two-fisted pounding of former champion Lamon Brewster (35-6, 30 KOs). Helinius set the tempo with his hard shots in the first round and established his position in the second when he caught Brewster with a hard bodyshot to put him down. Helenius was in full control of the fight. He closed the show in the eight when he continued to pound Brewster for the stoppage. Brewster is near the end of the road after this loss. Helenius had a reputation in the amateurs for KOing a lot of people. He's heavy-handed.

I think he's more suited for the pros than the amateurs for that reason combined with his occasionally lazy work rate (he lost some amateur fights for that reason). The pro fights with more rounds will be better for him than amateur three rounders.

nice win & pounding a win over brewster definately makes him a serious guy to look at.didn't see the fight but will have it shortly & good job for a 4th round knockout of Skelton....Skelton is 43 so it's still a decent win though.

Helenius needs work, he's raw, he's stiff. He has power and lets his hands go, but he stands straight up and jumps straight back in retreat, no lateral movement. Brewster is through.

That's a lot of stoppages for the amateurs - but quite a few losses too.

I really thought Brewster is way to much for Helenius at this point, but its unbelievable how shot Brewster is. A few years ago he would have walked through Helenius punches and laughed about them. He was always a guy stopping punches with his head, but thats why hes shot now and cant take any more.

I don't think it was so much Brewster being shot. It had more to do with Helenius being a hard, accurate puncher. He would never have "walked through Helenius punches and laughed about them".

Brewster has slowed down a bit, but he really didn't look all that different than he was when he had the WBO title. Be fair and give Helenius some credit!

Kind of feel sorry for Brewster. Time to hang them gloves up.
