Comments Thread For: Shumenov's Decision: Protest Coming, Investigation Too

In one of the worst decisions I have ever witnessed, Beibut Shumenov (9-1, 6KOs) was awarded a twelve round split-decision victory over Gabriel Campillo (19-3, 6KOs) to capture the WBA light heavyweight title on Friday night at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Judge Levi Martinez had an accurate score of 117-111 in favor of Campillo. Jerry Roth had a very off night with his final tally of 115-113 in favor of Shumenov, and Particia Morse Jarman should be banned from judging after submitting her horrendous score of 117-111 in favor of Shumenov. What sucks is that the first 2 shows that Fox Sports has put out. The main event has had controversial decisions... I don't think that is how they wanted to start of their boxing programming...

Beibut was soo inaccurate with his punches. If only he picked his punches wisely and bettered accuracy, he would be a killer. He threw non stop power punches for 12 rounds and looked pretty damn good in the 12th for a fighter that should have been completely exhausted. He has a damn good chin too.

Dominating 117-111 for Beibut ... what else can I say ....

Beibut has a look of work ahead of him if he wants to be a top fighter . Stamina is the most important problem at the moment .

How any person, let alone a 'professional' judge could in their right mind give Shumenov a decision, let alone a 117-111 decision, is beyond me. There has been so many controversial (read: bad) decisions this past year or two for boxing but this had to rank up there with the worst of them.

I think in my entire history of watching boxing, kickboxing, and MMA, I have seen just one more flagrant robbery than this.

                  Pure garbage.

That was clearly one of the worst decisions I've seen in my life.

I like Shumenov, he has an intensity about him that's great, but clearly they are moving this guy way to fast. He got schooled, plain and simple and was being rocked around the ring like a rag doll. I think he won 4 rounds tops. Amazing heart he showed, but horrible, horrible decision.
