A drunken personal boxing story and Peter Manfredo vs Matt Vanda

So anyway, tonight I get out of work and my plan is to go to Mohegan Sun Casino with my girl. She wants to see some country singer who's playing for free. I hate country but whatever, I figure I can have some beers and gamble and it won't be that long.

While we're on our way down she says "you know there's boxing there tonight, right?" I had completely forgot Manfredo was fighting. He's not great, but ****. You're telling me I'm going to be sitting in a country concert while all around me is booze, ********, and boxing. If I were with someone else but just her I would have been in line for my ticket. But no, we were going to the country concert.

We waited in line for 15 minutes to get a seat. When we finally did they sat us at a table next to some fat chicks, one who's ass was hanging off the seat so I had to move into the aisle.

We sat there for about a minute before we left. Our plan was to just stand outside and play slots and get drinks because she could still see and hear the band.

After about five minutes at the slots she gets up to go to the bathroom. 10-15 minutes pass and I'm wondering where she is. I'm about 5-6 deep from sitting at the slots and from a few drinks before and she comes back.

    Friday Night Fights

    Now that's a keeper.

So I went. She watched the country show and I went to Friday Night Fights. And she paid for it.

    and as for the fights....

well I've never seen such slutty ring girls for one. These girls were taken directly from the Gold Club in Groton, CT, ten minutes away. One of them had this move where she would drop the card in the ring and then bend over to get it, ass hanging out for everyone to see. These girls definitely thought they were working for tips, I'll put it that way.

Matt Remillard is a good fighter from Hartford, CT. He's fast, poised, and has a very very good left hook that's tough to stop. I think this kid's gonna fight for a world title some day. He may win. Tonight he certainly did. He stopped Rafael Lora in the 3rd. Lora basically quit. Remillard was landing the left hook at will and was coming forward while still maintaining his defense.

The second to last fight ******. Don't remember the names or anything. Just that there wasn't much action, the crowd booed a lot and some prick behind me kept yelling "****ing HIT HIM!!" Luckily it ended in four.

On to Manfredo-Vanda. 9 deep and ready for the main event. Manfredo dominated for the most of the rounds. His combinations were short and sharp. I think Manfredo turned in a nice performance. He hurt Vanda multiple times, knocking him down once in the 5th I believe with a nicely placed body shot. While Manfredo still leaves much to be desired, he provides a sort of attraction that seems to please fans. He's blue collar, he's not super gifted, and he's still working for his paycheck like you or I. Basically, he's easy to root for. While I don't think Manfredo is very good, I wouldn't mind going to watch him again. He's entertaining and usually is involved in fun fights to watch. Tonight was no different.

Easy 10 round decision for Manfredo and easy decision for me. As bad or good as Manfredo may be, I'd much rather watch him than sit through a country music concert.
