At the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, Peter Manfredo Jr. (34-6, 18 KOs) won a unanimous ten round decision over Matt Vanda (42-10, 22 KOs). The scores were 100-89, 100-89 and 99-90. Manfredo captures the vacant NABF Middleweight title with the win. He simply outworked Vanda over ten rounds of action. The only knockdown came in the sixth when Manfredo landed a hard hook to the body. He couldn't put him away and Vanda was able to last the distance. [Click Here To Read More]

Almost all of Rhode Island and the many fans of his since his run on The Contender. It's good to see a boxer who has paid his dues get a final run at a big payday to set his family up, much like Baldomir was able to in his Zab victory. Boxing could use more hard working good personalities like Manfredo's. As opposed to the spoiled rich whining of a Mayweather.

Manfredo earned my respect tonight. He fought well and proved he's tough.

I went to this fight tonight and it was entertaining. Manfredo almost had Vanda out of there in the middle rounds.

        Good fight.

With Manfredo campaigning at middleweight, Brinkley at super and Manfredo Sr. training them both, they won't fight. Vanda is a solid, strong kid. But Peter was sharp and precise with his punches.

The fight that needs to happen is Manfredo vs Duddy in Boston.

What do you have against Manfredo? He's a nice guy and a decent fighter. He's likely better at 160 than 168, not being a naturally big man.

I was impressed by his performance against Walid Smichet last year, and according to what observers are saying, he was sharp agin last night.
