Yes, your right..how can we all be so foolish! John Ruiz IS the best fighter of this decade. I was blind to the truth because like all other fans i was jealous of Ruiz. Like the time Holyfield hit him with a low blow in their second fight, Ruiz was sending the message out saying `look Evander, i can beat you on my back`.
Or the time Roy Jones white washed him over 12 rounds. Ruiz had the moral victory there because he had gone 12 rounds and was able to avoid winning one of them, thats defense mastery.
Or the time Tua knocked him out in 16 seconds. He backed up the claim he made when he said Tua wasn`t in his class!

Ruiz beat Holyfield so whats your point. And after Ruiz lost to Tua guess what, he never looked back and went on to be 2 time world champion and win 4 defenses. Tua who was supposed to be so skillful and potentially a great boxer went down as a nobody. Great fighters like Ruiz learn from their losses then go on and make history. Ruiz made history first latin HW champ!

muhammad took 25 blows in a row while the ref watched and he came back and knocked out lopez!!
          bottom line......see some other fights.......
          peace
Were standing 8 counts even allowed for this fight? See Brewster vs. W. Klitschko for an illegal use of a standing 8 count given by Byrd.

Yes, and also the first heavyweight champ to lose his titles each time to a natural middleweight. Holds the record for most clinches in a heavyweight title fight.
Ruiz is a legend for sure!

Well did he make history or did he not. And he still got a better record for defenses than those others in the HW division. And why were they so chicken**** to fight him? Because they were SCARED.

Yeah, he made history out of a disgrace.

He can't look bad because he's always looked bad ever since. He made his successful/disgraceful defenses by clinching and kissing.

I don't think RUNW/Knives rated Foreman as # 2. It's a random list of who he considers great fighters.

I think you're referring to Ruiz's superior clinch and pinch technique. He's #1 at it. Probably the best there ever will be.

Yeah well look at Holyfield using his oversized head to butt all his opposition. He headbutted his way to victory in half the fights. But no one complains?

How did this become a thread about John Ruiz

btw, this kills Gatti - Ward because of the skill level of the fighters. I'm sure this has been pointed out several times already, but I thought I'd chip it in again.
