    Orlando Canizales = Absolute Beast??

I'll be honest I've never seen a full fight of his, he came a little before my time and the truth is he never really gets mentioned. I think he had like 16 title defenses at Bantam and from the looks of this highlight video he looks like a straight beast.

I would like to get peoples thoughts on the guy or at least enjoy his highlights which are great.

I liked how he'd use so many different angles to move in and pressure and then step out and be out of punching range

Highly underrated. Great boxing skills and IQ. Broke Manuel Ortiz's record for most defenses in bantamweight, which ironically hurt his rep because right after that everybody was saying he didn't deserve to be compared or even mentioned in the same breath as Ortiz.

But I can say one thing, the guy fought everyone placed in front of him and even if the comp was not a great as Ortiz's, which was debatable, he did what he had to do. 16 succesful world title defenses in a row was rare when he was fighting and even rarer now. Watch some of his fights and you will see that this guy knows boxing. Boxed when he needed to and stood toe to toe when he had to. A rare combination. A joy to watch for sure. One of my all time faves.

He didn't fight very good opposition but his boxing technique is a sight to behold. Sometimes you can just appreciate the skill level even if he didn't fight great opponents in his prime. You can see on film that he would be a handful to any bantamweight who ever fought.

His brother Gaby fought for Kronk. Gaby won the WBA bantam title by beating Richie Sandoval and later won the wbo bantam title by beating Miguel "Happy" Lora. Orlando the younger of the two won the IBF title by beating Kelvin Seabrooks. THe two brothers at one point both held a version of the bantamweight title, making them the first brothers to hold titles at the same time.

Orlando was a real good fighter but as mentioned met average fighters in title defenses. He was pretty entertaining as he fought on tv often, mainly cable channels like USA (Tuesday night fights). He broe the record with striaght title defenses but the one he broke the record with was controversial, against Sergio Reyes.

Rolando Bohol told me he could have beaten Orlando but due to management problems, he wasn't able to concentrate on the training.

No doubt man, I see JMM in some of those highlights and Also Salvador Sanchez how he threw those punches so short and fluid on the inside.

I feel like I've been missing out not ever seeing his fights before, I consider myself pretty well informed on the great fighters of the past but this dude never gets mentioned. I have heard his name spoken and saw he was inducted into the hall of fame this yea, I'll download some of his fights now.

                Here's another video.

When reading up on his career on a few sites that was the consensus, I was blown away with his skill/movement/punch arsenal. I love fighters that can fight on the inside exchanging while slipping punches and using angles, I can't believe I've never seen this guy before.
