Nope, People were actually dumb enough to listen to Hatton and re-mortgaging their homes to bet on him against Pac and they only have to listen to Hatton saying it.
When you think how much this guy has to lose each time---it's no wonder how easy it was for Pacquiao to slaughter him...and this has happened numerous times with other fighters.

I knew Hatton was incredibly popular in the UK, but c'mon now....

What was the reaction like in the press?
Well, most of the media wanted him to retire straight away, they were shocked that he got KO in 2 rounds, The thing is Hatton is very popular and he has has a lot of rich but delusional fans over here who doesnt really know much about boxing.
They actually never knew who Pac was apart from the hardcore boxing fans who knew Pac was a livewire and dangerous opponent, I knew Pac was going to KO hatton but i thought it was be in the mid-later rounds to be honest not in the 2nd round like a bum.
The media plastered his picture laying down flat with different headlines..

Like Gordon Ramsay? I love that guy's BBC series, I think I've seen him at the Tszyu fight in the crowd.
The only British boxing journalist I remember picking against him was Colin Hart. His post fight reaction was "Well, I don't want to say I told you so, but....".

I hate Ramsay..the scottish Bas_ard, He alway make people feel little but in an entertaining way, Colin Hart is okay and the most famous boxing journo at the moment, we have Pat sheehan, steve Bunce but we have lost alot of great boxing journalist back in the 70's..
what is so fat about him? am I missing something? I understand he's probably not at 140 but fat?? I don't see it, I consider fat to be something COMPLETELY different, I KNOW some fat mother****ers and that's not one
