Can you be a front-runner in boxing?

One thing about most other sports is that there seems to be a fair share of front-runners out there in terms of fans. You know the ones that I am talking about, the fake Yankees fans, or Red Sox fans, or Lakers fans, or Cowboys fans, just to name a few of the teams that have the greatest perpetrators. But I wonder if boxing fans are immune to this phenomenon, I mean-- nobody really follows a guy who has lost nine out of his last ten and few people jump off a fighters band wagon after just a loss or two. So it seems that in order for you to be a boxing fan there is something of an inherent bias towards guys who win, otherwise nobody would be watching them. So what do you guys think, can you be a 'front-runner' and a boxing fan?

I think it's different in boxing because a loss or losses means a whole lot more than a loss in baseball, basketball, or football. If you lose all the time in boxing, the general public doesn't even know who you are. Hell, the Kansas City Royals suck and lose almost every game, but everyone knows who they are. The most successful fighters get teh most media attention and consequently have the biggest followings.

IMO, you can be a boxing fan and a front-runner at the same time because we don't really have much of a choice.
