yea, he did'nt have any amateur experience prior to his pro debut.

and although read head mexicans are a rarity, youd be surprised there are quite a few out there. im not sure if its from the spaniards because as far as i know there are'nt any red headed spaniards. could have been from german or irish ancestry or even french, not sure.

genetics. Remember that Spaniards "imported" themselves into Mexico and there are a lot of light skinned blonde haired spaniards so its not out of the question to have ginger ones. One of my cousins is a ginger. We call him "cerillo".

The Batallón de San Patricio, a battalion of U.S. troops who deserted and fought alongside the Mexican Army against the United States in the Mexican-American War of 1846 to 1848, is also famous in Mexican history. Álvaro Obregón (possibly O'Brian) was president of Mexico during 1920-24 and Obregón city and airport are named in his honour. More recently, Vicente Fox served as President from 2000 to 2006. Mexico also has a large number of people of Irish ancestry, among them the actor Anthony Quinn. There are also monuments in Mexico City paying tribute to those Irish who fought for Mexico in the 1800s. There is a monument to Los Patricios in the fort of Churubusco. Towards the end of WWII, there where many German, and Russian refuges fleeting to Mexico. So you will find a vary diverse ethnic backgrounds in Mexico. Heck my First cousin is a natural red head. But that’s besides the point, I believe Canelo parents are of Irish decent.
