Mayweather turning down Mosley destroys his legacy

    This
He is undefeateid, bsut is he respected? The answer is quite simply, NO. The decisions of Floyd Mayweather Jr over time have cost him. They have cost both his legacy, and more recently they have cost him financially. Why anyone would throw 40 million dollars in the trash can over some blood is still beyond this writers imagination.

Mayweather has made a history out of picking smaller opponents. He has not made any fans with his eagerness to flash his money around either. Is the man skilled in the ring? Yes he is. The problem is, he's never taken on anyone with enough size and talent that has earned him any respect in victory. Sure, recently Floyd came out of retirement and beat up a blown up dehydrated Juan Manuel Marquez. This defeat did nothing for his legacy. It only shored up what most people have been saying, he cherry picks smaller guys. Read more on Mayweather and his decisions on opponents here - http://www.fightsportsonline.com/flo...easy-opponents

I recently spoke with the president of USA Boxing's Southern Association, Stan Nichols. Nichols formerly held the title of Chief of Officials for the state of Mississippi. He has been in the sport of boxing for a long time. Although he's not heard of on a national level, his experience on the sport of boxing has to be respected. Nichols sparred with the great Roberto Duran many years ago down in Panama back in the 1980's. Nichols shared his thoughts on Mayweather and the decisions that he's made over the years, " Floyd has great skills, yet he has never stepped up to the big challenge. He had an opportunity to deposit perhaps over 40 million dollars in a Pacquiao fight, but chose not to. Now he has a chance to prove himself against Shane Mosley. If he ops out of this fight, it would damage an already questionable legacy." Read up on USA boxing here - http://www.usaboxing.org/

Many of Floyd's detractors have relentlessly pounded on him throughout the Pacquiao negotiations. Once the lawsuit for slander was filed against Mayweather, it was all out war between the two camps, thus killing any hopes for that fight to happen.

Floyd's next opportunity came by way of a terrible tragedy in Haiti. Shane Mosley was scheduled to fight Andre Berto but due to the earthquake in Haiti, Berto had to pull out of the fight to tend to his family. This opened up the opportunity for Floyd to step up and take on Mosley. Negotiations are ongoing, but reports are that Mayweather is balking at the talks, and is not happy with the numbers. This is a potentially lethal injection to his already shaken legacy. If Mayweather bails out of this fight against Mosley, he very well may go down as the fighter who ducked the best, and fought the rest.

Simply wasted career. He should be fighting 2 or 3 times a year, but cant even arrange one fight. Pac is already in training after the Cotto fight.

SSM is a fight he wont get any credit for if he wins, but he should fight SSM if only to keep the rust away until he fights Pac.

If he fights Shane next I hope is June/July not May

the reason being is that I feel if Floyd wins a lot of fans will try to downgrade the win by saying that Shane is old and coming from long layoff(16 months)

I rather have Shane fight in Februaru/March against a top 10 WW and see how he looks, if Shane is dominant then there is no way anybody could downgrade Mayweather victory without sounding foolish.

Damn straight, Floyd wasn't always a coward. I wonder what happened to him. I think Castillo really messed up his head and especially his heart. In his mind he really believes fighting Hatton,Marquez, and De La Hoya was something great lol. A breath of fresh air my ass poor leonard ellerbe he always has to look like the fool.

I'll be very dissapointed if he pulls out. The lack of noise is quite concerning, heres to hoping we hear something in the next couple of days good or bad so everyone can move on

If Floyd turns down Mosley I pray that Pacman trust in God enough to face Mosley instead. Who is Mayweather to get a pass and sit on the sidelines like he's de la hoya. All he's going to do is hit and run for 12 rounds and start crying again bout the credit he don't get for picking on the little guys. Floyd could have fought anybody but at least he came back after 2 years and fought Marquez the number 2 ranked pound for pound, I guess we are suppose to be that damn ****** to go along with that.
