Sure that was probably Arum's angle in promoting Luevano but Luevano is a very good fighter, problem is he is not a power puncher and he's a little chinny, but still, Luevano was pretty good and he got pretty far in the sport and that's respectable, Arum put him in with guys that were at the B level and Luevano did his part to get himself up there. He's not just a pawn he was trying to live his dream, he tried in there last night but he just couldnt hurt Juanma with anything.

This thread deserves an A+. Who is it that Arum seems to be protecting that's not a super big draw? It seems Humberto Soto fits that bill. But he's better than Luevano and has a more exciting style. But Arum still won't throw him in with a world class fighter. I used to think Soto was the goods and now I'm off the train for some reason and I can't put my finger on it.

It's back to undercards/ Fox Sports for Luevano while he was no where near the level of Lopez/Gamboa/Chris John. His best hope is an IBF eliminator to get a shot at Cruz.

a lot of people thought they were brothers because they were together all the time but they were cousins

And Luevano is not all that good. Don't kid yourselves. He lost to Martin Honario if I remember fight and he almost got KOd by Terdsak Jendang. A mediocre fighter.

Well, JuanMa was supposed to win just like Gamboa was supposed to win.

Luevano is a solid fighter at 126, but isn't a big ****er and they were smart to match JuanMa with him as Luevano is just in no way marketable.

i'm not sure i agree Spray...Luevano might not be a superstar but he is a very polished pro with good skills...they put Juanma up against a counterpunching champ on his move up to FW...there was quite a bit of risk there IMO

There was always a chance, just like there was always a chance that Mtagwa could land a good shot on Gamboa's questionable chin and put him out.

Everyone knows this was to showcase JuanMa and Gamboa and at least get them a strap for there future fight and you can only get a strap by beating a champ......or fighting for a vacant title so I guess they could have made it easier but it wouldn't have given JuanMa any credibility at FW if they did that.

Thats cute but he never fought Caba at 122 or Rafa and Izzy when they were prime.

His title was against the weakest 22' guy Ponce. Then his title at 26 comes against the weakest guy again.

That doesn't look that good. Unless you're a Puerto Rican with blinders on.
