Miguel Cotto Analyzes Trinidad-Wright
May 5, 2005 -- Preparing for his Madison Square Garden debut, undefeated WBO jr. welterweight champion MIGUEL COTTO took a few minutes from his camp in Puerto Rico, where he is training for his June 11 title defense and rematch against nemesis Muhammad Abdullaev, the last man to defeat him -- at the 2000 Olympics -- and offered the following analysis on the middleweight showdown between Felix Trinidad, a world champion in three different weight divisions, and Winky Wright, the only three-belt undisputed champion in the history of the 154-pound division. Trinidad vs. Wright takes place Saturday, May 14, and will be distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View from the MGM Grand Garden Arena , Las Vegas, NV.
TRINIDAD VS. WRIGHT:
ABOUT THE FIGHT:
"I think it is a very even fight, but of course I'm going with Trinidad to win the fight, but it won't be an easy fight for him."
TITO WINS IF...
"All Tito has to do to win, is to do what he does best ... attack, attack and then attack some more. He has the power to knock Winky out. The question is, will he get the opportunity to land the big punch against Wright?"
WINKY WINS IF...
"If Wright is able to do to Tito what he did to Mosley in their first fight he could pull off the upset. Winky needs to be tricky, not give Tito a stationary target, and keep his hands up and moving at all times. Winky needs to confuse Tito, lay back some, but also be aggressive at some points in the fight to impress the judges and win the rounds."
