Premature stoppage. The ref should have wait a few seconds before calling it a day.
A few more seconds could have been tragic. I thought at first it was a premature stoppage but seeing it in slow motion you could tell Viloria was in serious danger.
It's amazing to think, Tamara was homeless in Miami just two years ago. Now he's a world champion.
I've been in the gym with Tamara for a little over 6 months and I noticed he had a different demeanor for this fight. Usually he's a very happy go lucky joking kind of guy. For this camp he was stern, quiet, just the portrait of focus and intensity.
1 minute left, think the ref should have left the fight go on. he was tired more than hurt. wait till the guy falls over at least. considering the cost of him losing the fight.
deym... Villoria lost not just the fight, but future fights as well.. Top Rank has many plans/option for him. Solis rematch, Niņo and ofcourse Claderon. Deym..
Great fight, watched it live and enjoyed every second of it, shame to see Viloria lose it largely on conditioning but respect where respect is due, Tamara showed the heart of a champion taking some real punishment and fighting through it with everything he had pouring on some incredible pressure late after being hurt to the body early... the guy was like a damn energizer bunny - awe inspiring stuff and I hope we see a rematch
Throwing my zero cents in on the stoppage... I think it was a good call by McTavish as Viloria was so stuffed he could barely stand let alone hold up his hands, and we've all heard it a million times - "protect yourself at all times" if you got a guy who for whatever reason is unable to do that it needs to be stopped before hes headed to the emergency room, as our own John Scully said in Lewis-McCall 2 "people are here to see a fight not an execution"
