In classical logic, a contradiction consists of a logical incompatibility between two or more propositions. It occurs when the propositions, taken together, yield two conclusions which form the logical, usually opposite inversions of each other.

Seriously I want an interviewer who's gonna tell Manny that he really thinks he's on steroids and that's because he doesn't want to take the test. I would love to see how Manny will react to that....if he gets mad or annoyed or still calm.
This is the same old Manny trying to be humble all the time when he's being interviewed, I'm a bit tired of it. I want his real reactions, I want him to yell that he doesn't want the "Mayweather rules"....not just because it will affect his training and stuff.Comment

Why should he have to take any tests when he's always been clean? Just because of some deranged hallucinations that Floyd Sr. has about him?Manny doesn't want to fight Floyd PED free. He could take the tests. It's not like the test are something ridiculous. In some sports, athletes are subjected to these tests many times without ever having failed anything. Pacquiao fans act like this is something Mayweather is trying to invent rules for. It's commonplace in the Olympics, cycling, etc. It'll be commonplace in just about every other sport by the end of this decade. Take Mayweather and Pacquiao out of the equation or put the shoe on the other foot and I bet you'd agree with it. It's the right thing to do.
We don't live under the Napoleonic code my friend, we live under common law.
That means that you are innocent until proven guilty. Not, you are guilty until proven innocent.
Thats the problem with Floyd and his camp's request. There was never any proof. You can't treat a man like a criminal based on the conjecture of some crazy old man.Comment

I think you should do the interview CHUPS!!!

Wake up. It's not like Team Mayweather made this process up. The process they requested is one that was put in place for all nations who wish to compete in the Olympics. Remove Mayweather from the equation. The testing that was requested for the fight is the most credible form of PED testing known to man.Why should he have to take any tests when he's always been clean? Just because of some deranged hallucinations that Floyd Sr. has about him?

Here basis behind using this type of testing lies in the principle of creating a level playing field. Now, there is nuance so it's easy for a good lawyer like Bob Arum to obfuscate what is actually going on, but that doesn't change the fact that Arum is telling half truths at best. It's not to say that so and so is a criminal and therefore he must be hounded as though he is one. It is to say that PEDs will not be tolerated. To the extent possible, in this case, WADA intends to catch all PED users. In order to accomplish this, all athletes must submit to a clearly specified rigorous testing standard.
Look athletes don't have to compete in the Olympics. They do it because they want to. In order to do so they must submit to these testing standards. Contrary to what you seem to believe, it doesn't assume guilt it mandates compliance for participation in the interest of fairness. Do you believe that's unfair? Maybe, but consider that even with this mandatory compliance, people still go to great lengths to cheat the system. How fair is that to those who do not cheat the system?
Look, I'm not here to say Pacquiao is on PEDs. I believe he is, but that's just my opinion. What I'm here to say is that the WADA style testing is going to be commonplace in just about all major sports in the very near future. Why? Because clean athletes are tired of having to compete against cheaters. Not just in boxing in all sports. Team Mayweather didn't make this stuff up. This is a growing trend across the world. Look at it like "Best Practices in PED Testing."Comment

Also, just to add a little more to that last answer; Why should he have to take any tests when he's always been clean? Just because of some deranged hallucinations that Floyd Sr. has about him?

Manny Pacquiao chose not to submit to the tests in order to face Floyd Mayweather. A good analogy would be if Tyson Gay chose not to compete in the Olympic 100 meter final against Usain Bolt because he didn't want to submit to random blood testing. It doesn't prove anything, but it's highly su****ious. Do you think Ato Bolden would forget to ask Gay exactly why he wouldn't be willing to submit to the same testing Bolt and many others subjected themselves to? Highly unlikely. But boxing is a rare case, since the sport is so incredibly bereft of regulation and consistency it wouldn't know what it was if it smacked it in the face (see: Mayweather requesting WADA PED testing for Pacquiao fight).
The reason Team Mayweather's request seems so ludicrous and invasive to you is because boxers are not used to the idea of being asked to submit to a standard of sportsmanship in order to compete. In the Olympics, they're used to submitting to this standard in order to compete. In boxing, we're just happy if there's an unbiased referee, three competent judges and some fans in the seats who care whats happening in the ring.
Mayweather-Pacquiao wouldn't have been the same situation. It'd have been akin to the 100 meter final in the Olympics. It'd have been nice if Pacquiao would have been willing to submit to the standard of sportsmanship Team Mayweather requested. He has egg on his face because of what he did in rejecting the testing. Put the shoe on the other foot and nobody would blame Pacquiao, but as it is; you and many others find cause to blame Mayweather. That I just don't understand.Last edited by javelin_fangs; 01-22-2010, 03:58 PM.Comment
