There are different motivations. I think that some of his fans -- esp. those too young to have seen the 80's greats -- just think that Floyd is a peerless fighter, and they accept everything that he does as part of his genius. 'He didn't really duck other welters; it's just business.' Even smearing someone's name is good because it is consistent with his public persona.

For other *****s, it has to do with ethnic pride. Some simply want an American to be the face of the sport. Others think that it's just the natural order of things for the slick African-American to be at the top. After all, it's a sport that's been traditionally dominated by African-Americans.

Still others can't accept the unprecedented success the little Asian midget has enjoyed, and want to put an end to it. DLH was supposed to end the hype, then Hatton, then Cotto, and now Floyd is their last great hope (Mosley, for some reason, never quite fit their taste).

There is also an element of iconoclasm here. They suspect unprecedented success based on the admission of cheating by achievers in other sports. The clumsy and inconsistent reactions of Pac's camp to the OST demand definitely didn't help.

But I think that, in the main, the noisy *****s have already made up their mind for reasons I stated in the previous post. They're not like normal people who would not look at a person as guilty simply because THERE IS NOT EVEN A SINGLE SHRED OF PROOF THAT HE IS. Like the witch burners of old, the ****s and the McCarthyists of the 50s, they already know that Pac is guilty. It's just a matter of proving his guilt.
