I do not like Toney's chances against Byrd if they fight. The problem in this fight is that like the sportscasters say Toney doesnt waste motion. Byrd likes to fight guys that dont move a lot because he can hit them all the time and win rounds because of connections. Therefore, I think that Toney would play right into Byrd's hands. Especially because Toney's best chance to win would be by KO and Byrd has only been Ko'd by much bigger guys.

I tend to agree. Styles make fights. Toney, especially when he`s over weight like he was Vs Ruiz, is very slow of foot. Byrd loves slow guys. Although their hand speeds are comparable Byrd would present Toney will all sorts of movement and angles. Yes Toney has power but Byrd`s chin is pretty good and if pushed for a prediction i`d have to say 50/50 depending on Toney`s game plan and fighting condition on the night!

Again, the same can be said of Byrd.

I don't think its fair to assume Toney's going to show up as fat as he was agaisnt Ruiz and that Byrd will automaticlly have his A game.

If Byrd shows up anything like he has in his last 3 fights, he's in for a long night.

              Toney isn't Fres Oquendo.

I think Toney shows up in much better shape, and this will be a pickem fight. No way does Byrd have a big advantage going in.

No question that Byrd has a bad style for Toney. Alot of people think Byrd would be the easiest opponent for Toney because he is so small but that kind of thinking could no be any more incorrect. Toney would be alot better off Against the bigger, slower, more agressive heavyweights like Danny Williams, Andrew Golota, Lamon Brewster, Hasim Rahman, Samuel Peter etc.. Byrd is a defensive fighter, James is going to have be the agressor against Byrd if they fight and that is not where he is most effective or comfortable. Plus like Kimmy said Byrd moves on his feet good and that can creat problems for Toney and Byrd also has the handspeed and quick reflexes.
but Toney is going to have to fight Byrd at some point if he serious about unifying the belts at heavyweight, which I take him seriously in his intentions to do so.

Chris Byrd is a lot slower now and his ability to get out of harms way is diminished. Byrd couldn't hurt Toney but I think Toney could hurt Byrd. Byrd hasn't looked like the same fighter in his past few fights and James' handspeed and pop would keep backing up Byrd. I'd say Toney by close decision.

Toney Byrd would be a great fight. Byrd cant punch but rarely gets hit and can take a shot. Even though he slapboxes ---- it sill would be exciting. Possibly fight of th year

No it would not be a very exciting fight, it would be a very tactical fight. Toney vs Byrd I guarantee would be more boring than Toney vs Golota Toney vs Rahman Toney vs Brewster Toney vs Vitali Toney vs Brock Toney vs Donald Toney vs Danny Williams. There would not be that many big shots landed by either fighter. Toney would have to be the agressor, that is not the role he is comfortable in, and not the role in which he lands his most effective power shots.

Byrd vs Toney is a very bad match up for Toney. There is a very strong chance Byrd would dance around Toneyand land pitty pat jabs all night and go on to win a sleeeper UD, similar to the way Jones beat Toney.
