Two months' worth of boxing bets

I've just been on to Bet365.com and placed a tenner (c. $18) on each of these bouts. Some of 'em might be ******, some of 'em might not get much in return, but by the end of it (July 1st) I reckon I should at least get my money back:

    Brewster to beat Golota (5-2)

Michael Brodie to beat Scott "Och Aye, I deserved that draw" Harrison (9/4)

Ricky Hatton to beat Kostya Tszyu (2/1 - yeah, I know what you're thinking, and I don't actually expect to win this one... but Ricky DOES have a chance, which explains why I'll only double my stake if he does pull it off...)

Kevin McBride to beat Mike Tyson (13-2... I know, ridiculous, but Tyson's so shot who really knows? If McBride wins this - and Tyson could DQ himself - it'll cover all of my bets and give me £5/c.$8 profit alone)

    Gatti to beat Mayweather (17/4)

Danny Williams to beat Matt Skelton (13/8... I'll only make £16.25, but is Danny REALLY the underdog for this one? Skelton's determined and Danny's flakey, but this is probably the soundest bet of the lot).

Okay, so here's the one I was holding back on - Joe Calzaghe is 10-1 to KO Mario Viet again in the first round.

Why's it a good bet? Because he's done it once, so it's technically possible, and more importantly Joe has put 10K on HIMSELF to do it again, so he's got a vested interest in the first-round knockout.

Forget the lot above, they're just for kicks - put a bet on Joe to get a first round/second round KO, that's the bet.

        Shut it you!

I tell you what, though... I was so certain this was a good bet (Calzaghe had £10,000 of his own money on it) that I was going to put another £200 on tonight, but I got back too late to do it.

Thank God I didn't - it took Joe six rounds. Can't that Taff do ANYTHING right?

Just because the odds are higher doesnt mean you should bet on them. They are high for a reason.

Trinidad vs Wright a draw? I dont see that happening, I am still curious to see who wins, because it will be one sided for whoever wins.

I pick Brewster to beat Golota and Mcbride to beat Tyson. To bet for Gatti is being a damn fool.

Whew! Thank God you pointed that out to me, SJ, I was just about to put ten million down on Saddam Hussein being made the next US President. What a good thing I've got you here watching my back.

I expect to make my money back over the six bets, not win or lose... having said that, while I don't expect Gatti to win, he's got two hands the same as everyone, and in this game that can be enough on any given night. But feel free to call me a fool (after calling me a liar on another thread, natch)... you're the one picking Tyson to lose against a sack of crap being ready-made for him...

Danny Williams was supposed to be a less of a threat than Mcbride last year....Why?

I shall call you whatever I want freedom of speech.

But it's all good, we are just on a messageboard everything said should be taken with no more then a grain of salt.

But good luck if you make money on them, Great fighters were destroyed by Mayweather and Gatti is no great fighter.

I don't know where you heard that. I heard that the commissioning board originally objected to McBride as it was taking the piss even by Tyson "comeback" standards. Though the fact that he's finally been picked would seem to suggest that this is just a rumour. Danny's camp did offer to take the fight for less money, however.

Maybe it's a US thing? Certainly over here Danny was considered to have a long-shot chance, whereas McBride was - and IS - considered to have none.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong - I'm just betting for the fun of the bets, I don't actually think I'm going to clock up 7/7 here, and Gatti is probably the one I'd be least likely to expect, after Tyson.
