Here are some things I have wondered about after reading tons of threads on here about both pacman and pretty boy. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but absolutely no one is entitled to ruin anyones reputation without the facts to prove it. That's the bottom line. This is a neutral perspective on two great fighters and the treatment they are receiving.
How can any one among us dare to call any fighter a chicken? These men for a living square off to fight other men literally trying to punch their lights out. They train year round, to the point of exhaustion for weeks just to perform for us the viewer as well as make a salary. These men, like it or not, are modern day warriors who put their well being on the line no matter who the opponent is. A little more respect needs to be shown imo.
Secondly, pac seems to get a ton of slack when it comes to his fighter selection. Of course Mayweather has been picky over the years, but how can you discredit his track record and who he fought? Anyone who fights and beats (no matter how controversial) DLH, Ricky Hatton (unbeaten at the time), Diego Coralles, Castillo, Zab Judah, Arturro Gatti, and JMM to name a few is in my mind to be considered great. He fought Ricky Hatton in his prime and absolutely dismantled Coralles (RIP) and Gatti. if you showed this to any person without them knowing who the record belonged to they would be impressed with the talent mentioned. Just because mayweather hasnt been involved in a war does not mean he hasnt be tested. When i say this i do not mean that the fighters haven't pushed them because they are weak. This to me means he is good enough to avoid the wars and win as a boxer. There is no dishonor in that, it is the sport.
Another thing that must be remember about mayweather is believe it or not, he makes great fighters looks ******. then after the fight people accuse him of cherry picking. why can't he just be great? pacman is, certainly he could be too. If mayweather cherry picks and pacman doesnt, why is it pac has fought the fighters pretty boy has already dismantled and also chosen to skip fighting sugar shane instead of hatton and cotto. ( im not sure if mosley was unavailable or already scheduled for fights if someone can show me some articles on that it would be much appreciated).
Pacquiao has been somewhat a savior to the sport and rather than accusing him of using drugs, we should be wishing that he wasn't. I'm not saying to be completely oblivious to it, everything is possible. But why wish a possible all-time great cheated? It doesn't make much sense. In my mind PacMan and Pretty Boy Floyd are all time greats, and it is undeniable. But they are great for different reasons and that is what people struggle to identify with. PacMan style is much more aggressive, Mayweather is a top 3 defensive-counter punching artist. Exciting vs. boring is too broad. Boxer Puncher vs. Defensive Master is much more accurate.
