“Whether he meant to or not, Floyd has shown that the process is tainted and it’s going to be hard to overlook now,” says Margaret Goodman, the former chief ringside physician for Nevada and an outspoken critic of the sport’s anti-doping policies. “You just can’t ignore it any longer. There just is no rationale.”
How about Texas' anti-doping program:
Essentially there isn’t one. The state has the authority to demand urine testing for certain performance-enhancing substances “with probable cause,” according to TDLR spokesperson Susan Stanford. Without probable cause to suspect Pacquiao or Clottey are juiced up (neither has failed a past drug test), no drug testing is required to license the fight.
Oh and EPO/urine tests in Nevada?
Even if the sample is yours, Nevada doesn’t routinely test for erythropoietin (EPO) and several other potent substances that can be detected in urine using more sophisticated, more expensive, more time consuming methods.
And finally:
How easy is it to beat a testing program like Nevada’s?
“As simple as walking across the street,” says Travis Tygart. “It’s good for PR, to give the appearance that you’re testing, but nothing more.”
At this point, I'm tired of all the drug testing talk...
No one cared about it 6 weeks ago.
Now it's all people talk about.
I'm waiting for this **** to die down so we can get back to talking about boxing.
I'll leave the drug test reform to the boxing commissioners.
Well I agree with some of that and I dont really care about it in regards to the aspect of the Pac-Floyd fight but I just like reading things on different stuff anyways. I made a thread in the lounge about the History channel, 2012 ****, Nastradamus, and so on. This isnt like that but I do like to hear experts on the field talk about how certain things work. Very educational and at the end of the day, it probably is good for the sport. Im not a big Nascar fan but I remember when Ernhart died and they put that new kneck brace thing in all the cars. 95% of the drivers or more hated it. I remember it was like pulling teeth. They felt bad for the legend but all of them hated it and didnt want it.
Then they did a show about it like 2 years later and every single one of them said that they couldnt believe that they use to drive without it and how they now would feel naked and unsafe without it. I feel the same way about Pac. I think it may legitmatly be mental but if he had to do it his whole career then it probably wouldnt never had bothered him at all
This has been evident for a while now. The current testing methods are a joke, as Victor Conte said himself.
But the commsion doesn't give **** ass, less money to spend and if PEDs are making for better fights, then why break what isn't broken? Boxing is the same as Major League Baseball.
This **** needs to be fixed, and Floyd looks like the good samaritan for putting it up front for everyone to recognize.
I said it before... it was brilliant from him on many aspects...
You can't argue with it on moral grounds... who shouldn't want that the sport is as clean as possible.
If he went straight to the NSAC and appealed (like he should have) they would have turned it down... anybody who honestly believes that NSAC would accept that is beyond ******... this commissions are proud and if somebody comes who wants a change... they would admit that there system is flawed... they will never do that... but going into the public with it... a lot of experts speaking out (and also former contributors of wrong doing) it will force the NSAC and all other commissions to overthink it...
Don't wonder if you never will see some fighters in special states fighting (where stricter testing is) and probably some even retiring...
Like stated perfectly... it has to be an athlete who pushes it... because promoters, commissions and cities doesn't care because if a fight gets cancelled they will loose money... so athletes have to come to the forefront...
Respect to Mosley for taking the tests... and helping to clean up the sport that he also sadly cheated before... It won't erase his fault but if he helps to start something like that... he has earned some of the respect I lost for him back and many others boxers in the future probably 10 years from now... will be very thankful to his contributions
