I'm not a boxing fan and haven't seen anything since Ali vs Foreman sometime the 70s. My Filipina girlfriend reintroduced me to boxing (Hatton) since her family back home are big Pacman fans but claims that she hates Manny and doesn't understand all the hype that she gets. I was having coffee with her over the weekend and the topic of Manny's mistress came up so I asked her what she thought of the whole steroid issue with Manny. In less than five minutes, these are some of the things that she said:
: Manny never used steroids in his life and doesn't even know what they are (okay, I can't argue with that. But how would SHE know?)
: Manny is strong because he is a poor farmer growing up and there are a lot of strong people in the Philipines (okay, definitely plausable)
: Mayfeather is scared of Manny (ok)
: Mayfeather is trying to drain Manny of all his blood so he can't fight (she went on to say "not a little, but a litre" I told her that they only take a little bit but she insisted that they take that much)
And this is where it got interesting...
: Mayfeather wanted random blood testing up to the hour of the fight and that Manny would be completely drained (I told her about 0day/30day/14/day/24day compromise but she insisted that it was random up to the fight)
: Mayfeather never asked anyone to do the tests in all of his 40 fights (ok)
: Mayfeather wanted only Manny to do the test. He's not willing to do the test himself
I asked her where she got this information from. She told me that it was from the news back home. I asked her WHEN was the last time she saw it on the news. She said A COUPLE DAYS AGO. This means that it wasn't old information that was miscommunicated but that the Philippino media had been LYING to their people all this time.
I know that national television doesn't like to televise things that make their country look bad but to spread lies like these are ridiculous. Does any Filipinos want to speak up?
Edited to reflect that it was the topic of Manny's mistress that came up, and not the person.
