I find it quite funny when people mention Mayweather being afraid or not even being able to beat Shane Mosley, especially the 2010 version of Mosley. With the potential fight vs Floyd "Money" Mayweather on the horizon I went back and looked at the Mosley-Cotto fight & noticed numerous flaws in Mosley's style that Mayweather will have no problem exploiting.....
Cotto, unlike Margarito, was able to BOX Shane Mosley. When I look at the "JAB" category of the punch stat #'s for this fight, one thing that sticks out to me is how many jabs Mosley threw which was 439 yet he only landed 71 equating to 16%. On the flipside Miguel Cotto threw 288 jabs and landed 98 equating to 34%.
Mosley threw 151 more jabs than Cotto & yet Cotto landed more and kept Mosley on the outside by landing the more authorative jabs, and we all know that Mosley's jab is just used to set up his left hooks and right hand haymaykers sorta like how Roy Jones "flicker" jab is. This was the key to Cotto's victory because he was able to outbox Mosley from a distance and was able to avoid his lunging hooks and over hand right bombs that many of Mosley's opponents fall victim too.....
My question to all of you is will the 2010 version of Shane Mosley be able outbox Mayweather and control the pace of the fight by merely looking to land that ONE shot?
How will Mosley do vs Mayweather's right hand? I mean Mayorga repeatedly landed right hands from long range on Mosley when they fought. Mosley was recklessly lunging in with wild power shots, a VERY BAD HABIT OF HIS....
Will his jab be forceful enough to compete with Mayweathers jab?
How will Mosley do vs a guy like Mayweather who is constantly moving around the ring and is rarely in a stationary position to hit?
