3 REASON why FLOYD is 1 STEP AHEAD of MANNY ARUM AND ROACH

If Floyd beats Shane and beats Manny is that enough? All but hardcore Floyd fans feel that floyd needs to do more to seal his legacy. His years spent not fighting top welterweights while campaigning in the welterweight division has negatively affected his image. The pre-welter floyd would haven't been questioned in my opinion, but after moving up and claiming to be the best, but not proving it, he's drawn attention to himself and in his own way negatively effected his legacy, but increased his ppv demand.

What i wonder, if Floyd fights and beats shane, and then fights and beats manny.... Is that enough? Will he still be questioned or will the critics be satisfied with that?

Does he then have to go on and beat paul williams? someone else?

What do you think?

For me maybe it would put an * on his resume at 147lbs but I would like to see him in there with one more opponent it may be someone we have even seen yet Maybe Berto will put himself in lime light and that could be Mayweathers last opponent but truly for me I would love to see Tony mount a few good wins and get Floyd in there with him so he could beat Tony from buckle to turn post in a lopsided manner to shut all the Margacheato fans up once and for all...Lefty

His last three moves have been genius IMO. He has been shaping this fight from the very begining.

1) His first come back fight he takes on JMM. People call him a cherry picker amongst other things. This was done for one reason to obtain better bargaining leverage at the negotiations table. He takes out JMM in pretty easy fashion thus eliminating a public demand for a PAC vs JMM III.

2) He demands RANDOM TESTING for the fight with PAC on 3/13. When PAC made it a bigger thing than originally intended he puts an * next to PACS name in many of the common fans eyes. Thus the only fighter who is possibly compared to him as the BEST OF THIS ERA in many people eyes may have cheated. Even if he didn't walking away from 40 million in comparision to just giving blood RAISED some eyebrows.

3) He keeps his demand for RANDOM TESTING and says he is going to use it in every fight going forward to "CLEAN UP BOXING" PAC announces a fight with Clottey anther TOP RANK promoted fighter for the 3/13 date. NO SUCH TESTING is required. People are leaning back towards PAC and a good fight Floyd is left in limbo with out a dance partner. (no pun intended)

4) 1/18/09 Berto with draws from match with Mosley for Jan 30th date. Now possible match up between Floyd and Mosley lands in Floyds lap. Whether it goes down on March 13th or May1st undecided. But he puts the demand out there for RANDOM DRUG TEST with an admitted ROID user. (whether he knew about it or not he did admit it sorry Shane) Floyd can ink this deal he goes one up on Manny and also eliminates another potential opponent for Manny post his 3/13 date and inches himself a little closer to cornering Manny and shifting momentum back to GBP and himself at the negotiations table.

great post. i enjoyed this whole chess match between these two camps right from the start, from floyd's opening move of taking the center pawn (jmm), to pac's initial check (brutally defeating cotto), to floyd's counter check (steroid allegations), but i think floyd is about to show his last few moves leading to the check mate.

If mayweather planned all this out, its brilliant... i think its just accidently fallen in his favor... I think originally he picked JMM as a tune-up, and to set up a fight with pac - i think he asked for blood tests to **** with pac, then it got serious and there was no way to gracefully walk away without looking like an ass, and then i think he started believing pac had something to hide - the berto mosely thing is a natural disaster... no credit to floyd there... i hope...

But i do say things do look better for floyd right now than pac...

unless Grandpa Mosely beats Floyd...

then theres a Floyd - Mosely 2 perhaps...

and his stock goes down in a Manny fight...

But a Mosely - Manny fight becomes the biggest fight on the century.

I don't know why you think you can see into the future and tell what common man will think.

I don't think that will be the case at all. People tend to remember the best of moments and 30 years from now only the knowledgeable historians will know why this fight didn't happen. Who ducked who, Jones or Marius? It doesn't matter what really happened because the people loved Jones and are gonna take his side.

When history comes back and look at Mayweather vs Pacman (if it doesn't occur, which is highly unlikely) they are going to remember from a biased point of view. And most likely the common fan is gonna like Pacman more than Mayweather.

Sir I do not claim to have a crystal ball but you give the common man too much credit. People will remember a era drenched in steroids and sports in general being dominated by athletes who were using PEDS and think about this fight and say PAC had to be juicing why else would he pass up 40 million in a GLOBAL RECESSION think to them selves gezz I would cut off my left nutt for 40 million he must have been hiding something...Lefty

I don't what part of the wrold you live or what world you live in for that matter but over here in the US people are saying what Ia m saying and I am hearing from the average Joe on the street not just people or fans in this forum. This was not just a big fight it was the BIGGEST FIGHT IN THE PAST 20 YEARS. Honestly whether he is a media darling or not people are going to ask him the question. That why he slapped a law suit on people to stop people from taling about it. People don;t like other people talking about their dirty little secrets friend...So whether or not he is gulty remains to be seen or we will never know and I HOPE TO GOD HE IS CLEAN. But most people in and outside the boxing world think his reputation is tarneshed...lefty
