@Dave - let me put it another way. Khan gets more credit from me for defending his belt against Maidana than fighting Malignaggi who's not a dangerous puncher.

And from anyone who isn't biased. And if he can win, however he wins, it's a big win for him, because it proves he can beat big punchers and that he has the guts to get in the ring with them.

By the time Leonard fought Duran in Montreal, he was already a superstar. But for me his status really soared after his TKO of Tommy Hearns. He dug deep to beat someone who was just as slick with devastating power.

I agree that was Leonard's "defining" fight. Amir isn't at anywhere near that level (certainly not yet, probably never will be); but nevertheless he's extremely talented, and has huge potential. The most important thing in the short term is just to win. If he can make it exciting, so much the better, but he must win. And given his chin, and given Maidana's power and relentlessness, that means he can't afford to trade.
