    Abner Mares

There is a lot of talk of matching IBF bantamweight titlist Yonnhy Perez versus the talented, young Abner Mares. It would lead off the May 22nd broadcast that features the fourth installment of Israel Vazquez-Rafael Marquez at the Staples Center. That would be a fantastic doubleheader- Steve Kim

Perez is the cat that beat Agbeko correct, that would be a very stern test for Mares. Would be a real nice double header though.

It would be a great fight, although I get the feeling that it's just a little too soon for Mares to step in with a beast like Perez.

It's funny jrosales, just told me this like an hour ago.

I agree with Silencers on this one. I think it would do Mares some good to fight in an eliminator or to be put in with a quality contender before this one.

If Mares beats Perez color me impressed, Mares is highly touted but beatinga guy like Perez would really put him on the fast track.

I disagree completely. He's been a prospect for far too long in my opinion. a step up in competition like this has been way overdue for him.

He fought in August, but he was inactive for nearly a year with an eye injury.

If he manages to win this fight he would be going places in a hurry, the past is the past but he can rectify that by winning this fight.
