He prepared his Plaster of Paris a day before and doesn't want to mess up the opportunity whether somebody died or not.

Where's the tangible benefit from that? And who, besides Tony himself did that help?

He should have been with his family, supporting them, the ones that needed him.

From what I've heard, and I could be easily wrong...Berto's only close family on the island were his sister and niece...and they were found safe and sound.

The rest are probably like cousins and **** that he doesn't even know.
Exactly. Immediate family is different, but I doubt distant cousins you probably do not even speak to would bother you that much.

It shows amazing heart and grit on his part to be able to do that. Maybe it was a coping mechanism for him to go on with the fight.

Tony was fighting for money and survival at the time. He wasn't well known yet. He wasn't on the HBO gravy train like Berto is.

He probably couldn't afford not to go through w/ the fight.

Don't tell me that was any different.

One man honored his commitment. The other one dropped out.

Sorry if the truth is too much for some of you.
it is different, because different people handle tragedy and losses differently........

no one knows what one is going through, i know my family is more important to me than anything else, **** a fight when i could fight another time and make money.

how could one think that berto would be fighting at his best? with all the distraction, it's tough, i'm not saying that margarito is cold blooded and doesn't care, he just deals with it differently.
obviously you think that everyone should do what margarito did, and it appears you think that is what you would do, but until you have everything at the highest stakes of your career and then a family tragedy to deal with, until you're in that situation or have been, you really can't say what another person should do, when you don't know what you would do. because in reality you and no one knows until it's your turn in the grinder.

another internet tough guy............... berto is losing on more than one front, he's lost family, family friends, and now is losing a payday and a chance to beat shane mosley.

it's his decision and i support him, and i'm not even that big of a fan of his, and i do think that he wasn't going to win against mosley, but i think it would've been a good good fight..........

by your statement it seems like margarito had to fight not that he chose to fight
