Top Rank chief Bob Arum and promoter Tuto Zabala, Jr. of All Star Boxing will meet this week in New York to discuss the possibility of working together with Mexico’s hottest current prospect Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. “Canelo” who is currently rated #4 WBC, #5 WBO and #7 WBA has become a huge idol in Mexico, fighting exclusively on TV giant Televisa in Mexico and selling out arenas throughout the country. At only 19 years old, he has compiled an undefeated record of 30-0-1, 22 KOs, winning the WBA FEDECENTRO, WBO Latin, NABF and WBC Youth world titles in the process. “Its time for “Canelo” to invade the US market,” said his promoter Zabala. “He has already fought on Telemundo but we want him to become the biggest PPV attraction. He has all the tools to make it. We believe he’s ready to take on the best of his division like Manny Paquiao, Miguel Cotto and others.” If a deal is reached, Alvarez could be included on the March 13 PPV show at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium where Manny Paquiao will face Joshua Clottey.
