Floyd Mayweather is a bigger draw than Manny Pacquiao

    Mayweather vs Hatton = 1,500,000
    Pacquiao vs Hatton = 800,000
    -------------------------------------------------------
    Mayweather + 700,000 Buys

    Mayweather vs Marquez = 1,000,000
    Pacquiao vs Marquez = 400,000
    -------------------------------------------------------
    Mayweather + 600,000 Buys

Mayweather vs De La Hoya = 2.4 Million
Pacquiao vs De La Hoya = 1.25 Million
    -------------------------------------------------------
    Mayweather + 1,150,000 Buys

Now let me tell you all something. Mayweather-Marquez definately was considered a TUNE UP fight. And people came to see that fight because they wanted to see Mayweather lose, That in itself is what makes him the draw.

If Pacquiao fought JMM right now it would be no where close to 1 Million buys. And one thing you have to consider is that was a NON-TITLE fight and it generated that kind of money.

And i GUARENTEE you all that if Mayweather vs Mosley fight on the same day as Pacquiao - Clottey the numbers will clearly go to Floyd Mayweather Jr. He sometimes may be a boring fighter but people would rather PAY to see him.

Now tell me Pacquiao is the bigger draw ........

    peace and love ya'll

Mayweather-Hatton did not sell 1.5Mill. It sold 900k PPVs in the US and 2Mill in the UK.

Still, I agree Mayweather has sold more against common opponents.

Floyd came out of retirement and fought a tune up fight ...

Pacquiao fought the guy that was a bigger draw than marquez.

Floyd sold the fight on himself

        Pacquiao had a dancing partner

Guarentee if Mayweather fought Cotto this spring it would do better numbers than Pacquiao-Cotto

Mayweather never fought Cotto because he said cotto was not a PPV draw. He COULD have fought Cotto when he came back, but chose to fight Marquez who Floyd said was a bigger draw than Cotto and a had a whole country behind him.

Well, Pacquiao sold 1.2 Million with the guy Floyd said no one knew and wasn't a PPV draw.

          Number dont lie man.

Mayweather is clearly the biggest draw and he's the most talked about fighter on every boxing forum 5 years straight.

Floyd is a bigger draw. He is more vocal, he can talk english FLUENTLY ... and he doesnt put on no fake image and gives you the real man.

                Controversy adds attention.

                Floyd more popular

All of those are not proofs. When Hatton came into the ring to fight Mayweather, he was an incredible fighter who had deposed one of the greatest fighters ever in Kostya Tszyu. He was not one-dimensional, he was fast, powerful and highly skillful, and had a record of 42-0 with 30 KOs. That Hatton would have gone the distance with Pacquiao to lose a Majority Decision, in my opinion. But against Mayweather, he was eventually knocked out. Hatton never truly recovered from the loss, and his next fights were all much worse quality. When he fought Mayweather, he was considered a God on par with Mayweather; after the bout, however, he was not quite spoiled goods, but now only a "good" fighter, instead of a P4P #1 challenger.

De La Hoya? Perhaps he, for one, was not actually spoilt by the Mayweather loss. Yes, every loss made him worse, but the drop in skill was not in the same league as Hatton's. He recouped after the Hopkins loss phenomenally, and fought what I believe to be his best fight of recent times with Mayweather. I don't think he was quite spoilt when he lost to Pacquiao, although then he was even older than against Mayweather. I suppose this is a real indicator of worth.

However, admitting that Mayweather used to be a bigger draw is not the same as admitting that he is a bigger draw. Mayweather has not recently fought anyone of great worth, and I don't think he generates more interest nowadays than Pacquiao.
