Even though i (thanks, time warner cable) haven't even seen him fight yet, i couldn't say how well Cotto is going to do, given what he's been through, and the fact he won't get a real trainer and team, learn how to listen and execute directions from said trainer, i just don't know anymore.

Even though Evangilista brought him quite far and well earlier in his career, i see many flaws In Cotto, some maybe lack of confidence, or he gets dismayed too quickly, i don't know. Maybe Marg and Pac did take too much from him. Maybe not. but without some major changes, i don't see him progressing much, or evolving with every fight, like Manny.

Maybe roach got a big mouth and changes his statements, but the man has Parkinson's but he is a great trainer. He really brought out the best in Manny. Cotto needs someone like that... desperately, imo.
But so far the poll looks pretty even. I didn't vote.

Martinez would tear Cotto apart imo.

Martinez beats him easily and possibly KO's him into retirement.

Fight would have no way of happening guys. Martinez has 4 inch height advantage and like an 8 inch reach advantage. Take into account that Martinez is probably one of faster boxers in the 147-160 division and Cotto really doesn't stand much of a chance. However, for all the people jumping on the Martinez bandwagon, he's good but an ATG that can just toy around with Cotto. He wins decision easily, but a 'brutal' KO seems unlikely and out of sorts for Martinez anyway.

It would be an interesting fight ,I only seen Martinez fight once but I became a fan on that fight (Martinez/Pwill).He has a style very close to Quintana but he is stronger, that been said I believe Quintana is a better boxer(I would love to see a Martinez/Quintana fight).I think Cotto is better than Martinez and he can win but it would be a dangerous fight for him because Martinez has some real power,Just my opinion.

Cotto is one of my favorite boxers all time but Sergio would beat him pretty bad. Sergio is 4 inches taller and much bigger. He can box all night and can take whatever Cotto brings. He's been in there with much bigger men than cotto. One thing that I am curious about is Cotto's power at 154, but still, I don't see Cotto winning that fight. I would say UD of late TKO

Right now I have to go with Martinez, but lets see how Cotto does at 154 first.

I don't want to seem like a Cotto nuthugger but I haven't given up on him, he's a freaking warrior. Theirs no shame in losing to Paciquao, the fighter of the freaking decade!!! Who hasn't Manny beaten the crap out of? Except Marquez who is just the perfect match up/arch rival for him. Manny would do the same to Martinez in my honest opinion. I say Cotto takes him out late, 11th round TKO.

I just hate how a fighter gets beat ONLY TWICE, once by the fighter of the decade, and the second by a fighter with illegal wraps and then all the sudden he's done? He was winning that fight until he got stopped. I don't even like Rickey Hatton but he loses to the 2 best fighters of the decade and now he's shot? Lennox Lewis got KO'd twice at heavyweight taking heavyweight punches and still retired undisputed champ after avenging both losses. I just hate how people write off people after they lose and to top competition. It's ridiculous. I agree with fight Foreman and then have this CLASSIC with Martinez. Would be a freaking war, I would just enjoy the fight and not even care who wins. I just know we will get fight of the year!
