Style wise, Clottey is tough at 5 foot 9, huge in the ring and a tight guard. However I have less doubt that Pac can win than when he fought Cotto. Clottey is a tough, strong mofo, not a great but definitely hard to beat. Pac really does need to move because he won't be able to hurt Ckottey that much, unless he times a punch perfectly through that guard and Clottey can not see the shot.

PS. A lot of people gave it 1 round or atleast a win to Clottey over Cotto, I hope these fools do not start insulting Pac over this choice.
what puts clottey as a top 5 welter, and berto not?

        no, i say "no heart..."

as in, going into someone else's backyard, in the biggest fight of your career, being in a position to end the guy, only to stop fighting for the last 3-4 rounds of the fight, and basically allow the fighter to "WILL" himself to victory...

a lot of ppl talk **** about cotto "losing" that fight, and for the record, i had clottey winning by a point, but for cotto to have that big a gash, and had he decided he couldn't continue, he would've won, but he decided to fight on, and basically "outworked" clottey to a decision.

what cotto showed that night was heart, and i can't say the same for clottey. as somebody else pointed out, this guy loses ALL his biggest fight, and ppl act as if that's about to change now.

Being called a top 5 Welter is not overrated. He is and can beat most fighters at 147. Infact a lot felt that Clottey won VS Cotto.

He's not a great, which no one is calling him, but he is not an easy fight by any means.
ricky hatton likes to come forward and war also....we see where that got him.

once again, clottey is a top 5 WW, by beating who, and holding what titles exactly? zab judah?

come on now.....clottey is tough, and i don't expect pacman to KO him, so if "tough fight" for pacquiao means clottey's gonna be there all night, then i agree. but clottey does nothing particularly well enough to give manny trouble at any time during the fight. if manny walked through cotto's shots, he'll walk through clottey's too. if all else fails, he'll be able to outwork clottey to a UD, just like cotto....

i don't criticize manny, b/c like some ppl have pointed out, what other WW could he have fought in march.....it's a decent fight, with a decent opponent, but my criticism goes to the ppl making this fight any more than that.

like the guy a few posts before posted, there's a big difference betw. "taco bell & filet mignon."

if you're hungry, and you pass a taco bell, it's a good choice......or if you're up late, and taco bell is the closest place, it'll do.

but nobody gets a "craving" for taco bell.

this fight, will get us through, but it's not "tough," and it won't be "close."

You cant. Its a good risky fight. The only reason people take issue with it is because of the Mayweather fight being sc****d to make this happen.

I take Clotteys word, Even if not 'broken' - badly damaged, very painful and likely changed the fight outcome

Speaking of Floyd opponents, depending on HBO's mood, they may force him to fight someone credible but just not accepting anything offered.
This was more or less the same sentiments on the ESPN Rafael chat today...

Now that Clottey is out of the picture (not just bc he is fighting Paq but bc he is Top Rank) who is Floyd supposed to fight that would compare???!!! Dan would not answer the question. Floyd needs to take a fight but a fighter in the caliber of Clottey is just not around. That caliber wont be around until May or June in Berto or Mosely.

I LOVE the Paq Clottey fight btw. How can you not?! Clottey is a beast. I was boycotting Arum / Paq fights until this one came up hahaha.

Freddie is going to give his fighter a big edge in this fight like he has in everyone since... kind of obvious since it has made Manny's career but true.

Ring Magazine, possibly the most respected of all boxing journals. The same Ring Magazine that has Floyd rated at number 3 and more than once, named him Fighter of the year.

So, do tell me, how is it that Floyd is rated the number 3 welterweight when he hasn't actually faced a welterweight since 2006?

We just want him to do what he has to do.We wants big fights.

                      But,right now nothing is signed.

We,fans, and dudes like RA and Kenny are putting pressure on Floyd and this way help boxing and even Floyd's career. He fought **** bcause nuthuggers like you allowed him. Now,there are just few blind stans in the Mayweather's boat.
                      They listen at fans(clients)opinions.

Floyd knows he cant fight garbage or lightweights next.

But he's enough maso to pick Mathew Hatton.I wouldn't be surprised.Tough,I think hope,he's fightinga threat,I'm even ok with hard hitting Cintron.
