The situation:
Let's say Pacquiao took the tests, because there's public clamor for it. People wanted to find out that if he indeed is clean. Fine, "for the fans" let's say Pacquiao says "yes." The fight gets underway.
Now, You are either Arum or Dela Hoya what do you do in this scenario?
Remember both Pacquiao and Mayweather will be tested, and either fighter can be tested positive (or have a "false positive" result, in which case they will need to be re-tested.)
Now, Does this mean that with any irregular result the fight will be canceled? What if USADA decides to do a test the day before the fight and it yielded a positive finding...will the superfight be canceled the day before the actual fight? Something similar to what happened to the Guzman-Campbell bout.. What will you do in this scenario?
A. Go through with the fight. Let the cheater burn in media.
B. Go through with the fight and blackmail the cheater for millions and future fight arrangements.
C. Cancel the fight. Let the cheater burn in media.
D. Cancel the fight and blackmail the cheater for millions and future fight arrangements.
Personally, I'd cancel the fight and let the cheater burn in media. No way am I going to let a cheater have a 40mil payday. If fans are pissed now, imagine how pissed they will be at boxing if this happens - that will be the death of the sport.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have a cut-off somewhere where HBO, and the promoters will not be left with nothing to show on fight night? What are your thoughts?
