I say better late than never. Hopkins has a couple of fights left in him and I’m happy this is one of his last fights, and win or lose this will probably be Jones’s last hurrah. This isn’t about titles or legacy or money, this is about a fighters pride. Granted it is the same pride that didn’t allow for this matchup to take place 10 years ago, but also the same pride that will fuel these fighters to bring whatever version of an ‘A’ game they have left to the ring one last time. This will allow Hopkins to retire with the peace of mind that he had his chance to beat the man, and it will allow Jones to not have his last fight be a first round stoppage by Danny Green.
This will be a well fought competitive fight between two guys who will leave it all in the ring. I don’t see a reason why some boxing fans are complaining about this fight, at the end of the day it’s still good for the sport. This fight will be a lot more entertaining then a lot of people think, there will be lots of show boating and trash talking in the ring, and the build up should be fun. Plus with the built in knock out bonus, you can be sure they will both go for the KO. And when all is said and done, and the dust has settled, I’m sure these two warriors will hug it out in the center of the ring. So for all the memories these guys have given us over the years there is no reason to hate on this fight so much and I for one will be ordering the PPV. I mean even Apollo cashed in a favour from Rocky......ding! ding!
