Why didn't Mayweather fight De La Hoya a second time?

He is always talking about how he can make $75 millions in 1 night(which is bull****) but he made the most money of his career the first fight and the second 1 was lined up so why retire right before that? Especially since he beat him the first time in a non exciting but clear, should have been unanimous decision. He could have made just as much if not more the second time and he knows he can beat him so why retire instead of fight? never understood that.

DLH wanted the money split to be the same as the first fight, Floyd disagreed.

        De La Hoya Mayweather II?

As for the answer to your question he probably felt he did enough for the win that a rematch wasn't necessary or maybe he just really wanted to retire

I'm sure at this point Mayweather would take that DeLaHoya rematch should DeLaHoya decide to come out of retirement. I wonder if Mayweather has suggested that idea yet to his new promoter?

I always thought it was because the public had negative feelings towards a second fight, but I'm sure there's another reason.
