What are your thoughts on Devon Alexander?

I've been following Devon for some time now and I'm very familiar with him. I (as well as St. Louis) was elated that he became world champion last year. Those who have followed him, knew that once he got his chance he would make it happen. Now he is going to unify with Urango, and he is headlining the card on March 6th (and Cory is supposed to fight on the undercard, a couple years ago, it was the other way around ). I think that this fight with Urango will be his toughest to date because Urango is a tough guy. I think that Devon should be able to box him for 12 rounds. I'm not sure that he will hurt Urango, but as long as he is smart, under control, and does what he has done in the past, he will get the victory. I'm not looking past this fight, but with a victory on March 6th will lead to bigger fights at 140 with the likes of Khan, Bradley, Maidana, Paulie, etc.

what are your thoughts on Devon?

Fast hands & heart. C+ defense and B- or C+ power. Not enuff lateral movement for me either. He comes str8 forward a ton. He has the tools though. He is just not using them right. Its strange too since he is trained by KC and works with cory spinks. But whatever, i've only seen 4-5 of his fights so I could be wrong but from what I have seen. He will have a decent career and I will watch him whenever he is on. Nuthing special though.

He is pretty good, I watched some of his fight with Junior Witter over again yesterday. I think he is on the right track.

He's a solid fighter with a lot to learn..he looked a little awkward against Witter..but I guess that's not his fault..Witter was all over the place making it an ugly ass fight..but Alexander pulled through and got the man to quit ("injury")..

I also saw his fight against Corley in the Jones-Trinidad undercard..and he pretty much beat him one sidedly...nothing spectacular..but it was a solid performance..

I need to see more of him..I can only recall about 3 or 4 fights I've seen of him total..and they're all good performances but lack that WOW factor sort of like Chad Dawson..

I like how he's making his first defense of his title against another world champion to unify. That's great for the sport of boxing. But he shouldn't underestimate Urango. He needs to play it smart and box from the outside without getting into too many brawls.

Can't claim to know tons about him but he seems solid technically, doesn't make huge mistakes, can box, as he progresses we'll see.

Yeah, Witter is a very awkward guy. I forgot who his trainer was, but I remember he trains all his fighters to fight that way. Changing from orthodox to southpaw for the hell of it and just being sloppy.

I like Devon Alexander. He looks like a good prospect with good skills and athleticism. Also, him being a southpaw gives him an advantage againt many of his opponents.

I think Urango is a good fight for him at the moment. It's a fight he should win over a ranked opponent, and is a title unification bout as well.

Urango is rugged and will make him work and most likely go twelve rounds. I think that's a good thing, as it will give him valuable experience and put rounds under his belt.

Great young fighter, he needs to improve his angles and straighten out his left a little bit. He should be able to box Urango. To bad his brother Devard got locked up. He was the truth. 10X more talent than Devon, just not the discipline.
